The singer-turned-fashion designer briefly dated the 'Lost Boys' star in 1995, and was saddened to receive news of his shock death yesterday (10.03.10) of a suspected prescription drug overdose.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Victoria hadn't had any contact with Corey for years but she was still shocked to learn of his death in such circumstances."

The overdose - which happened at the Los Angeles flat Corey was sharing with his mother while he helped her battle breast cancer - is thought to have been an accident, with four bottles of prescription drugs reportedly found near the spot Corey died.

The actor had previously openly admitted addiction to crack cocaine and prescription drugs.

The Spice Girls singer - who befriended the Girls Aloud star when her husband David Beckham played on the 2006 England soccer squad alongside Cheryl's spouse Ashley Cole - has offered advice and support as her pal struggles to cope with allegations of Ashley's infidelity.

Victoria said: "I support Cheryl 100 per cent. I have not spoken to her, but I'm always there for her. I'm behind her - I feel for anyone going through a tough time.

"I have so much sympathy for Cheryl. My heart goes out to her - both as a woman and as someone in the media spotlight. I feel for her so much, it's a horrible situation but she's a fantastic, strong woman and she will be fine. David's not a Premiership player now, so I can't relate entirely. But I do sympathise."

The sportsman and wife Victoria Beckham spent several days at the actor's villa in Laglio, on Lake Como, last year while he was playing for soccer team AC Milan and are now hoping to purchase the lavish 30-room property after the 'Burn After Reading' star decided to sell up.

According to Italian newspapers, David told pals: "I have fallen in love with the beautiful countryside. It's peaceful, quiet and near Milan. It would be great for the family."

However, the couple - who have sons Brooklyn, ten, Romeo, seven, and five-year-old Cruz - face competition from Russian vodka billionaire Tariko Roustam, 47, who is said to have offered an amazing £30 million for the property - ten times the asking price.

However, it is believed negotiations with the Beckhams are at an "advanced" stage and they are favourites to land the house.

The couple's bid has also received the backing of Laglio's mayor Roberto Pozzi.

He said: "It would be a shame if George went because he has become one of the locals and we have grown fond of him. Everyone has seen him when he comes over and he is always friendly.

The outspoken American branded the former Spice Girl-turned fashion designer - who lives in Beverly Hills with her soccer star husband David and their three sons - "rude" and wants her to move back to the UK as soon as possible.

She told Closer magazine: "Victoria Beckham is so nasty. Why doesn't she just go home?! Her dresses are beautiful, but I don't care what she does. She's mean to all the people around her.

"She's too short to be a diva. We all use the same hairdressers, make-up artists, limo-drivers and greeters at the airports in LA and nobody has anything nice to say about her. They say she's rude. She can't always just be having a bad day."

The 76-year-old comedienne also blasted "vulgar" Victoria for her spending habits, insisting she should be less extravagant in the current difficult economic climate.

She said: "Victoria Beckham should get a life. I am not a fan of outrageous consumption. I think it is vulgar.

"And no-one should flaunt that they have a hundred Hermes £6,000 bags. Not when people are starving. Everyone should be allowed to have a great time but she shows a distinct lack of class."

This is not the first time Joan has hit out at the 35-year-old star and has previously called her "arrogant".

Victoria Beckham offered her support to Cheryl Cole after the X Factor judge's husband was accused of sending sexy pics to another girl, a new report claims.  This is the second report this year about Cheryl's soccer playing husband, Ashley Cole and alleged text messages.

The UK Daily Mail reported earlier that Ashley had sent racy pictures to woman in June, but keep in mind, the charge was denied by the footballer.  

These new accusations of messages and raunchy pictures have Cheryl's friends concerned.  Pal and fellow WAG Victoria, 35, is reportedly one of those worried and offered her support after reading the recent reports and said Cheryl was welcome to go and stay with her.

Cheryl has been working on the hit show X Factor. She also has found recent success with her solo singing success and there have been rumors of her trying to break into the American pop scene.  Perhaps a stay with the Beckhams in LA is just what she needs.

However, the soccer star - who is out of action for three months after breaking an ankle - insists he did not send them and instead lent his phone to a friend, who gave it to another pal, who then sent the raunchy images.

He said: "I gave a phone away that still had stuff in its memory. I thought I had deleted it.

"I can't believe I did it and would laugh if my foot did not hurt so much."

"Like Victoria, I've been advised to have an operation, but there's no way I could be in a wheelchair for six weeks. It would drive me nuts. So I'll just have to put up with the pain. It annoys me if people think they're gross - they're common and quite normal."

She told Love magazine: "It was David who set my phone up to play Right Said Fred. Honestly - he's trying to take the p**s and I can't change it because I'm rubbish with phones."

Instead, the singer-turned-fashion designer is left shame-faced when her phone goes off in a public place.

She explained: "I'll be at the gym and suddenly I've got Right Said Fred playing and I'm mortified."

The 35-year-old star - who has sons Brooklyn, ten, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz with David - also revealed although the couple are very happy together they don't always share the same passions.

Beckham says: "I travel a fair amount, and when I'm here in LA, everything revolves around the kids. So if I'm not working, I go to the school and help serve lunches to the children.

"They just love that. It's like: 'Oh, there's Mummy serving me'." The former pop star is mother to three boys - Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, seven, and Cruz, four. But Beckham also admits she can't give up her high heels. "Absolutely [heels make my feet hurt]," the clothes designer, who appears to have bunions, says.
"Absolutely. I'm not going to lie. But no pain, no gain, as they say. "I don't mind. I will suffer. I don't wear heels every day, but when I'm out, that's how I feel confident."
