Taylor Momsen carries a knife.

The 'Gossip Girl' actress insists she feels "relaxed" by playing with the weapon, which she takes "everywhere" with her.

She admitted: "I have a knife collection. I have my favourite black knife with me all the time. It's a switchblade. It relaxes me to flick it. I close it and open it."

The 16-year-old star even came close to sparking a security alert after carrying blades on a recent flight from New York to Los Angeles.

She told the Metro newspaper: "I flew from New York to Los Angeles and still had a couple of knives in my purse. I thought I took them all out but they got tucked up in the folds.

Taylor Momsen continued singing at a music festival even though she was being sick in her mouth.

The actress-and-singer - who fronts US band The Pretty Reckless - fell ill on stage on May 1 after wearing a thick leather jacket in hot, sunny conditions but continued performing despite regularly retching.

She said: "Well here's one rock'n'roll thing that I can say. We just played at The Bamboozle in New Jersey about a week ago, and it was so hot, it was 102 degrees or something, and I went on stage in a leather jacket being stupid, because, you know, I have to wear my leather jacket. I almost threw up in the middle of the second song. I was spewing in my mouth and swallowing it back down and I kept turning around and singing. I tweeted the video, it was so cool. It was wicked."

Despite laughing about the show on her twitter account, the 16-year-old actress, who also plays Jennifer Humphrey in teen drama series 'Gossip Girl', was unhappy with the overall performance.

Taylor Momsen isn't close to her 'Gossip Girl' co-stars.

The 16-year-old actress says she and her castmates - who include Leighton Meester and Chace Crawford - have a good on-set relationship, but do not socialise outside of work hours.

She said: "I'm not really close with my cast. We're all cordial and nice to each other, but we're not really friends outside of the set."

The teenage star, who also sings in band The Pretty Reckless, also revealed she prefers music to acting because it's "personal".

She said: "I've been acting since I was two. I don't dislike it by any means, but it's a job to me. It can never be as personal as music, because you're playing a character and saying someone else's words. Music is who I am."

The 16-year-old 'Gossip Girl' actress doesn't care people have criticised her for smoking cigarettes because she lives her life how she wants to and insists she isn't bothered about how she is perceived.

She said: "I smoke, so what? Why do people give a s**t what a 16-year-old girl who they've never met does? It's not like I'm sitting there going, 'Kids, you should go buy a pack of cigarettes.'

"When I walk outside with a cigarette and someone takes a picture of it and puts it on the internet, it's not my problem. I'm just living my life and I'm not gonna live my life for other people.

"I don't read that c**p that describes me as having an attitude, but I don't know why that's a bad thing. I didn't get into this to be a role model for seven-year-olds. I have no interest in doing that."

Enjoying a glitzy night out in the Big Apple, Taylor Momsen was spotted attending the 2009 Whitney Museum Gala in New York City last night (October 19).

The “Gossip Girl” cutie looked stylish as she ventured inside the Whitney Museum of American Art, heading off to party it up alongside gal pal Birdie Bell.

Following a new episode of her hit CW show last night, you can catch Taylor when "Gossip Girl" returns next Monday with another new installment titled "Enough About Eve".

Jenny (Taylor Momsen) is forced to choose between her relationship with Eric (Connor Paolo) and her new role as Queen Bee. Rufus (Matthew Settle) gets Lily (Kelly Rutherford) into the Halloween spirit."

Getting an early start to the day, Taylor Momsen was spotted out on the set of "Gossip Girl" in Central Park on Monday (October 5).

Joined by her on-screen boyfriend, Kevin Zegers, the twosome shot scenes on what was a cool morning in Manhattan.

Meanwhile, you can catch an all-new “Gossip Girl” episode titled “Dan de Fleurette” when it airs tonight at 9/8C on The CW.

A synopsis via the show’s Web site tells: “It's the first day of school at Constance Billard which means it's also time for Jenny to take her rightful place as the new Queen Bee. Unfortunately for Jenny, Blair is more than happy to intervene when news reaches her that she may be needed back at Constance. Out in New York City earlier today (September 30), Taylor Momsen was hard at work on set of “Gossip Girl” in Chinatown.

The blonde actress looked relaxed as she breezed through the scenes, changing wardrobes several times in between takes.

In related news, a fresh face will be joining the cast of “Gossip Girl” for a multi-episode run. Kevin Zegers is set to play the role of Damien who is described as “an international bad-boy.”

Damien will play the love interest of Jenny Humphrey (played by Momsen). Zegers has been in several films such as “Transamerica,” Fifty Dead Men Walking,” and “Air Bud: World Pup.”

The bleached blonde babe looked especially cranky as she made her way around the Chelsea district of Manhattan, followed by the new ‘Mean Girls’ on the show.

Coming up this Monday, “Gossip Girl” is all-new with more drama and romantic tension with an episode entitled “Dan de Fleurette.”

Stepping out for promotional duties, Taylor Momsen helped kick off Clinque and Teen Vogue Magazine's "National Fresh Faces Tour" in New York City on Tuesday (September 22).

The CW cutie sported a stylish black ensemble with white trimmings as she held a huge pair of red-handled shears at the Union Square West Plaza event.

As for the "Fresh Faces Tour," there will be a "Mobile Beauty Studio" providing girls with "the opportunity to experience makeup application and hair styling by a team of skilled artists as well as have their photo taken by a fashion photographer".

When the tour wraps up on November 6th, a panel of Clinique and Teen Vogue experts will help to determine three lucky winners - who will be flown to New York City for a professional photo shoot to be featured in Teen Vogue.

According to the press release, the winners will "also be awarded a coveted Teen Vogue externship, which includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Teen Vogue's office where they will meet fashion and beauty editors, explore the famous fashion closet and get a taste of how a magazine operates."

Keeping her eye on the latest fashion trends, Taylor Momsen was spotted at the G-Star Raw fashion show on Tuesday night (September 15).

The “Gossip Girl” hottie looked sexy chic in a long black duster with a screenprinted t-shirt, khaki trousers and black ankle boots.

In related news, Miss Momsen recently told press that though her skimpy wardrobe choices have caused controversy, she’s not looking for a makeover anytime soon.

"I don't care. I think if everyone's going to be so upset about what I'm wearing, I'm like, well, maybe you should look at your life a little more. I don't know why you're so obsessed with mine."

Taylor continued, "Music inspires me. Fashion means everything. I mean, it's art. Art means everything to me, so fashion's another side of it. It's expression, it's music, it's a way of showing and really being who you are in your own way that no one can take away from you."
