Diane Kruger almost killed Sharon Stone.

The 'Troy' actress - who is dating Joshua Jackson - admits she had a mishap after stumbling onto the 'Basic Instinct' star while posing on an electronic two-wheeled self-balancing vehicle while wearing high-heeled shoes.

She explained: "I was at this auction last year for amfAR - a foundation for AIDS research - and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and I nearly killed Sharon Stone.

"I'm not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines, 'Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone'."

Cannes Stars Turn Out For Glitzy AIDS Charity Bash

Mick Jagger, Russell Crowe and Jennifer Lopez were among the guests at AIDS charity amfAR's annual party during the Cannes film festival, which raised $6.7 million from a celebrity auction and seat prices.

The total was up from last year's $4.5 million but down on 2008's $10 million, and, as at other high-profile parties and dinners in and around Cannes this year, some guests grumbled quietly at the lack of A-list star power.

The black tie event, which lasted from Thursday evening into the early hours of Friday, was held in the grounds of the exclusive Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc built by the sea just outside Cannes.

The 780 guests each paid anywhere between $4,000 and $20,000 for a three-course meal, wine and champagne and an after-dinner party around the swimming pool.

Regular host Sharon Stone was unable to attend and sent a video message instead, and those at last year's dinner recalled former U.S. President Bill Clinton making a keynote speech.

This year was low-key by comparison, although designers Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld walked the red carpet and singers Patti Smith and Mary J. Blige had people out of their seats and dancing.

They both agreed to play an encore when someone offered to pay $245,000 into the charity pot.

Comedian Chris Tucker joked about "banging into billionaires" at the event, and actor Alan Cumming said his job as replacement host was to try and fill Stone's shoes.

"As bananas as she is ... she also raises such a lot of money, she really knows how to bludgeon with glamour," he told Reuters on the red carpet. "So that's what I'm hoping to achieve tonight - bludgeoning with glamour."

The top individual lot at the auction was a photo shoot with Lagerfeld in his Parisian studio which fetched $735,000.

Two paintings by artist Richard Hambleton, described in the auction brochure as the "godfather of the street art movement", fetched a combined $920,000 and two bidders won a day out with Clinton costing $220,000 each.

The event was the 17th Cinema Against AIDS party held during the Cannes film festival, which this year runs from May 12-23.

Since 1993, Cinema Against AIDS events around the world have raised more than $50 million for AIDS research, amfAR said on its website.

Sharon Stone (pictured) has revealed that having her lips injected made her look "like a trout."  The 52-year-old actress said on being famous: “I'm detached from my celebrity; I don't need to be 'it' anymore."'

Stone also opened up about the pain of her divorce from Phil Bronstein.  She said: "It takes a long, long time to come to the point where you can actually say that you got married because you were in love with the person."

"And it makes me cry,” she told More magazine.
These days she says it’s younger men who chase the star for dates. “I really get pursued by men in their twenties, like, a lot," she said.
"They probably know there’s food in the fridge and that somebody’s going to talk to them and ask them how their day was.”

Sharon Stone is regularly "pursued" by young men.

The 52-year-old actress admits her love life is almost non-existent at the moment- comparing it to the barren Mojave desert - but it's not from lack of offers as males in their 20s are keen to date her, but she's not sure what their intentions are.

She told America's More magazine: "Life and love is like the ocean. Sometimes the tide is in and sometimes the tide is out, and sometimes it's like the frigging Mojave. Where's the tide now? For me? Mojave! Fortunately, I like the desert. I'm a desert flower.

"I really get pursued by men in their 20s, like a lot. They probably know there's food in the fridge and that somebody's going to talk to them and ask them how their day was."

Odd cast combo of the day alert: Kurt Russell, Adrien Brody and Sharon Stone have all signed on to star in Waco, which will cover one of the most infamous events in US law enforcement history.

Production Weekly has it that Rupert Wainwright – last seen directing The Fog – will handle the film, which will track the 1993 incident in Texas with the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms laying siege to the compound holding David Koresh and his personal cult, the Branch Dividians.

After reports of child abuse and rape emerged from the isolated compound, federal agents took action, leading to a devastating fire within the structure that left 81 people dead and a wealth of controversies about how the authorities handled the situation.

According to The Playlist, investigative journalist Lee Hibberd wrote the script and the filmmakers will tap the experience of documentarian Michael McNulty, who made Waco: The Rules Of Engagement about the topic.

Sharon Stone feels she has a duty to her fans to wear cocktail dresses in public.

The 51-year-old actress insists her supporters would feel let down if she was ever pictured with no make-up and a casual outfit, even when not working.

She said: "When you show up in photos for your fans, they don't want to see you looking a disaster.

"I think that's disrespectful to them. You're the one going home in your nice car to your nice house because your fan has worked all day at the factory or in the store to make you a star. I'm incredibly grateful to them for staying with me."

The 'Basic Instinct' actress also tries to choose as diverse a range of film roles as possible because she feels she has a responsibility to her fans to try and give them value for money when they see her movies.

She explained to Tatler magazine: "The decision to spend your money on my film is a real decision. You're saying you trust me and I'm going to give you a good time at the movies.

Actress Sharon Stone is set to guest star in four episodes in NBC's popular television crime series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", NBC said on Tuesday.

Stone, 51, best known for her roles in the movies "Basic Instinct" and "Casino", will play a former police woman turned prosecutor on the show, which follows a squad of detectives who investigate sex crimes. NBC had no air date for the episodes in which she will appear.

Stone won an Emmy Award for her guest actress appearance in the TV legal drama "The Practice" in 2004 and a Golden Globe for her work in the 1995 movie "Casino".

"It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon's wattage and importance joining SVU," said "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf.

Sharon Stone On For Law & Order

We can almost see the warning ads now: "This is Sharon Stone's career. This is Sharon Stone's career on television…" Yes, Shazza has signed on to appear in four episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

While the long-running US cop drama franchise (the mothership series, simply called Law & Order, just got picked up for its 21st year) isn't exactly junk television, it's not the sort of venue one might expect an Oscar nominated actress to turn up in. That said, the entire L&O franchise is notorious for its ability to attract names to guest roles.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she'll be playing a cop-turned-prosecutor who will interact with regular Detectives Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Benson (Mariska Hartigay).

It's not her first taste of small screen work - she's won an Emmy for her appearance on legal drama The Practice and also was a recurring character on little scene dysfunctional family drama Huff. Perhaps Stone will use it as a jumping off point to secure her own show - she could use a kudos boost…

Lindsay Lohan To Stay On At Ungaro Fashion House, Despite Criticism

Hollywood wild child Lindsay Lohan is staying on as artistic adviser at fashion house Emanuel Ungaro despite her debut collection being panned by critics, president and chief executive Mounir Moufarrige said on Tuesday.

The designs are selling well but not as much as expected, Moufarrige told Reuters. They were presented at Paris fashion week in October.

"Yes (she's staying on), she has a job to do," he said on the sidelines of the Milan Fashion Global Fashion Summit.

Lohan, the star of "Freaky Friday" and "Herbie Fully Loaded," teamed up with the Paris-based fashion house to give the aging brand a jolt and attract younger customers. Her role as artistic adviser is to feed ideas to chief designer Estrella Archs.

The 23-year-old actress lived up to her reputation as Hollywood's party girl in the collection with super-short pink dresses and blazers worn over bare skin.

She sparked a paparazzi frenzy at the Louvre museum where the show was held, creating exactly the kind of buzz executives at Ungaro had been hoping for.

However, fashion critics were aghast at Lohan's bra tops and stripper-inspired nipple pasties and panned the collection. Rumors have been swirling about her future with Ungaro.

"The criticism was harsh. I am sure we can do better in the collection to be honest but I think it was harsh ... But it did sell well," Moufarrige said.

He added that future Ungaro collections needed to be "more tight, more identity driven."

He said Britain's upmarket Harvey Nichols and Harrods as well as New York's Bloomingdales and Japanese stores were among those who had shown interest.

REBUILDING LINDSAY

Moufarrige has been open about the marketing boost expected from Lohan. In turn, the actress is trying to rebuild her career after drug problems, stints in rehab and a conviction for cocaine possession and driving under the influence.

"There is more buzz definitely but we are in a recession," he said.

Retired founder Emanuel Ungaro, who stepped down a few years ago also added his voice to the chorus of critics and was quoted by media as saying the collection was a "disaster."

"Mr Ungaro has his views, he can keep them. I have no comment," Moufarrige said.

Lohan's appearance was also a reminder of the risks faced by luxury brands who tie their image to celebrities.

Dior, for example, found itself scrambling to prevent a public relations disaster last year after actress and Dior model Sharon Stone said an earthquake that killed thousands in China could have been "karma."

Moufarrige is known for headline-grabbing staffing decisions. As president of Chloe, he replaced Karl Lagerfeld with the then 25-year-old Stella McCartney, daughter of the Beatles star, Paul McCartney.

Sharon Stone's Revealing Audition

Sharon Stone wore a transparent blouse to win her part in 'Basic Instinct'.

The 51-year-old actress - who played Catherine Stone in the 1992 erotic thriller - was so desperate to win the part she resorted to flashing her flesh in figure-hugging clothes.

The New York Post newspaper reports: "To audition for 'Basic Instinct', Sharon Stone wore an Armani pantsuit and a sheer blouse with no bra underneath just to show she had no problem with nudity."

Sharon - who, according to the publication, made her confession at the Hamptons Film Festival at the Bay Theater in Sag Harbor - learnt about the part after reading the movie script, which her manager had taken from a desk.

She tried to win the role for eight months, but didn't get a look in until she bravely showed off her body.

The blonde star explained: "After 12 actresses turned down the role, it was finally mine."

Sharon - who was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Acting award at the event on Sunday (11.10.09) - also spoke about the infamous leg-crossing scene, in which she is seen without underwear.
