Country music legend Willie Nelson got a haircut and the buzz created online from the new style (the pigtails are gone!) spread from the floor of the salon across the world when he appeared in Hawaii sans pigtails.

More celebrity hair - Jennifer Aniston's 'Rachel' hair-do is the most requested hairstyle of all time.  Almost 11 million women in the UK have tried out the look that was made famous by Aniston's character Rachel Green in the US sitcom Friends.

The layered hairstyle has been tried out by women across the country, according to a new study by hair company Goody.

Mark Harmon on 'NCIS' Success; Katharine McPhee on Marriage

While dozens of series stars and producers are lamenting dwindling audience numbers in these time of fragmenting viewership, Mark Harmon's "NCIS" has managed the seemingly impossible feat of increasing its audience numbers -- by more than 10 million from its first season to its current seventh season to date -- to become the most-watched scripted show on broadcast TV. Harmon is duly appreciative -- and quick to spread the credit around.
He feels the growth in the show's popularity is due in large part to the camaraderie shared by those who bring it to the tube, and says he's never seen a group who gets along so well with one another. Also, he says, there are a lot of laughs.
"You've got to have a thick skin to work here. This is a group who likes to have fun."
And work hard. There was a time, he says, when the series necessitated his putting in workdays of up to 19 hours. Eventually, he helped get those hours lowered. He says with a laugh that his wife (Pam Dawber) teased him, "My husband is the only actor who gets excited about now putting in 14-hour work days."
Far from tiring of "NCIS" after putting in more than six years, the nice-guy actor tells us he even enjoys making his daily trek out to the set. "With other jobs, I didn't look forward to the drive to work," he says, "but now I just want to get there and spend time with a production I like so much and a crew I am so fond of."
ON THE PERSONAL SIDE: Sexy 25-year-old Katharine McPhee admits the intensity of her career isn't always easy on her 21-month-old marriage to actor-producer Nick Cokas -- aka the man who got her to try out for "American Idol." But then, "Marriage is definitely not easy. I've never met anyone who said marriage was easy.
"He actually travels with me," adds the singer, who's been on a radio promo tour for her "Had it All" and "Say Goodbye" singles and upcoming "Unbroken" album. "I actually like him as well as love him; he's my best friend so it's great to have him around." As far as whether her hubby, who's nearly two decades older than she, ever gets jealous of all the male attention coming her way, the singer answers in the negative. "He's the most non-jealous type I've ever met. I say, 'OK, you can get a little jealous,' but he doesn't."
A stunning brunette, McPhee now looks amazing as a blond, and hot indeed in her "Had It All" video. "I'm having a blast," she says of experimenting with her look. "As a kid, I always loved trying out different things with my makeup and hair. I haven't been very daring on the hair side before. I never dyed it. I wanted to do something like this now before I'm too old and it's too late."
McPhee's album, on Verve Forecast, is due in January, and she will be going out on tour in support of it. Once she wraps her current radio rounds, she says she and Cokas (not hard on the eyes himself) will be spending comparatively quiet holiday time together. "Since next year looks like it's going to be busy, I'll try to get as much rest as possible."
WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES...: Kim Raver says she didn't have to think twice about coming aboard "Grey's Anatomy" as heart surgeon Dr. Teddy Altman -- not only because she's a fan of the show, but also because she'd worked with creator Shonda Rhimes before and "I trusted her completely." Their prior collaboration was on a pilot called "Inside the Box," about Washington, D.C.-based broadcasters. "I played an on-camera journalist, really a great character -- a smart go-getter. I really thought it was a terrific pilot, seeing behind the scenes in this newsroom, following these stories and how they get them on the air," she says. "It's hard, sometimes; you try not to get attached, but you do. The cast, the writers -- everyone's giving it 100 percent of their best effort and then some. And then, when it doesn't get the go-ahead, you can't help feeling disappointed."
The former "24" and "Lipstick Jungle" actress has found she loves Teddy (a possible threat to the relationship of Sandra Oh's and Kevin McKidd's characters) at least as much, however. And the "Grey's" team. "My first day, people on the set kept talking about how cold it was and I said, 'Cold? I can't help sweating.' They all understood how I felt, though, and they were welcoming, which really helped my nerves," she says. "Sandra -- I think she is such a generous actress, and she's so funny. I'm lucky to be with her and Kevin and the show gang."
BEWITCHING: With a production start slated for later this month, casting of subsidiary roles is being completed for the Ashley Tisdale-Meg Ryan "Sleepless Beauty" Warner Bros. movie. It has "High School Musical" cutie Tisdale as a gal about to suffer the cruel fate of a really nasty insomnia spell cast to take effect on her 18th birthday by a bad femme named Katrinka. That's Ryan's role, the Wicked Witch of the West Side, this tale being told in contemporary New York. But shooting is set to start in Grand Rapids, Mich. No word yet on a handsome prince or facsimile thereof.

Kristen Bell Pleased By Ryan Punch

Kristen Bell was on "cloud nine" when she got to punch Meg Ryan.

The blonde actress was thrilled to share a fight scene with the Hollywood legend in new comedy movie 'Serious Moonlight'.

She said: "I got to get in a fistfight with Meg in 'Serious Moonlight'. And she was so game. I was just like, 'Oh, my gosh. I am having a fistfight with Meg Ryan right now. I'm just on cloud nine.' "

Although Kristen enjoyed shooting the action sequence, she admits she found it hard to focus on her role because she is such a big fan of Meg.

The 29-year-old 'Heroes' star explained to Parade.com: "She projects an iconic level of cuteness that I don't even think will ever be matched. She's chosen to take a few years off or whatever, so I forgot how utterly addicting and adorable her mannerisms are. It's like nothing I've ever seen.

New Jenna Elfman Sitcom Vaguely Amusing

To film critic Billie, there are three stages of womanhood: "Meg Ryan in 'Sleepless in Seattle,' Meg Ryan in 'You've Got Mail' and Meg Ryan in the grocery store saying, 'No, really, I'm Meg Ryan.'"

Billie lives in a San Francisco, where she's a full-time film critic who has gotten stuck somewhere between "You've Got Mail" and the grocery store. She's heading toward 40 and recently dumped her rich boss when he refused to propose, so now Billie is sowing her oats -- leading to a two-night stand with Zack, who is "considerably younger" than herself -- that leaves her pregnant.

What's a 37-year-old film critic to do? The answer makes up the contrived, fantasy plot behind "Accidentally on Purpose," a fast-moving, occasionally amusing series that premieres Monday at 8:30 p.m. EDT/PDT on CBS, the greatest asset of which is that it gives sunshiny Jenna Elfman a new platform for her Lucille Ball-inspired graceful mugging.

"Accidentally" doesn't wait around to get moving; by the end of the first 22 minutes, Billie is pregnant and Zack has moved in. But they're not in a relationship, she insists -- they have to save something for Episode 2. By then, audience heads should be spinning (and mouths watering): Zack is the nicest, if most lightweight, guy on the planet, cooks a mean ravioli and "smells like a Skittle," Billie says. "I tasted the rainbow."

But Elfman perseveres. All wide-eyes, splayed fingers and sudden movement, she still is the perkiest, most likable thing in the room. But she needs a cast equal to her talents, and instead she's saddled with a leading man in the wooden Jon Foster, who always seems to be looking over her shoulder. That is a fatal flaw.

In the end, what surfaces is more the "Purpose" than the "Accidentally": This is an utterly predictable comedy (what, you don't think Zack and Billie will fall in love in Season 2, right after he starts dating another chick and Billie has an epiphany?) that's got a few fun lines.

Cheryl Hines Standing By On 'In the Motherhood'

Cheryl Hines and her "In the Motherhood" cast mates are "standing by," she says -- waiting to hear when they'll be called back to complete the show's 13 episode order. For now, they're on hold. "We did the first seven, but we don't know when we're going back to shoot the last six," says the funny lady.

With the knockout talents of herself and Megan Mullally, along with the able Jessica St. Clair -- plus the show's successful webisode forerunner -- "In the Motherhood" seemed like a can't-miss proposition. Then it got on the air and received a chorus of mixed reviews. Although it's had its hilarious moments, critics and everyday viewers have voiced disappointment.
However, "The show has definitely gotten better as we've been shooting," Hines wants us to know. She points out, "Pilots are difficult anyway. It's good to get past the pilot, and we've been finding our groove, which is great."
She says that she and Megan and Jessica "have so much fun working together, we have fun on the set, and we're hoping that translates to the show."
Hines has been doing triple duty with "In the Motherhood" shooting simultaneously with her beloved "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which is in production on its seventh season. And Hines also has activities attendant to the April 25 unveiling of her directorial debut film, the comedy "Serious Moonlight," starring Meg Ryan, Timothy Hutton, Kristen Bell and Justin Long. "I'm so glad to get to go to Tribeca. I couldn't be happier that it's premiering there," she says.
As for doing "Motherhood" and "Curb" at the same time, "It's definitely been an eye-opening experience," says Cheryl, "with 'Curb' being improvised and 'Motherhood' having a script, it's obviously different. On a comedy series, the script changes every day. That's been interesting for me, getting a new script every night and new script pages two hours before shooting."

Gay TV Channel Saving "Sarah Silverman"

"The Sarah Silverman Program" will be back for a third season on Comedy Central, following the resolution of four-day day standoff over planned budget cuts.

The cable channel has ordered a 10-episode season of its signature live-action series, which will now be co-financed with gay-oriented sister cable network Logo.

"We're happy," Silverman said. "All we ever wanted was just to make our show. Nothing fancy -- just our show."

It's a happy ending to a drama that threatened to make "Sarah Silverman" the first major primetime casualty of the economic crisis after the cable network was forced to slash the budget of the series by more that 20% and its executive producers refused to continue at those terms.

"Things were tough on Friday and over the weekend," said Comedy Central's president of original programing Lauren Corrao, who headed the network's efforts to keep "Sarah Silverman" on the air. "We very much wanted the show, we just couldn't come to an agreement for a budget that was acceptable and uncompromising to the producers and that we could afford."

Like every other entertainment company, Comedy Central's Viacom parent has imposed companywide belt-tightening measures. As a result, Comedy central proposed picking up "Sarah Silverman" at an $850,000-per-episode budget for Season 3, down from $1.1 million for Season 2.

Concerned that the drastic reduction won't allow them to keep the integrity of the single-camera comedy, which incorporates animation and musical numbers, Silverman and her fellow executive producers Dan Sterling, Ron Schrab and Heidi Herzon declined the offer.

In a surprising twist, Corrao came up with the idea early on Monday to share "Sarah Silverman" with another Logo, which caters to gay, lesbian and transgender viewers.

She called former Comedy Central executive Marc Leonard, now a senior exec at Logo.

After discussing the idea for several hours, Logo's brass called up their Comedy Central counterparts to tell them they wanted to be part of the show.

Details on how the financial responsibility and the window sharing will be divided between the two partners are still being worked out, but sources said with the combined financing, "Sarah Silverman" will have a budget a tad higher than last season's $1.1 million per episode.

Logo has run Comedy Central shows before, including animated series "Drawn Together," but this the first time the two networks are involved in co-financing a series together.

In broadcast TV, NBC made a similar arrangement with DirecTV last year to bring back critically praised but low-rated drama "Friday Night Lights."

Logo is looking to capitalize on Silverman's strong appeal among women and gay men. Additionally, two of the main characters on the show, Sarah's neighbors Brian (Brian Posehn) and Steve (Steve Agee), are a gay couple.

Logo aired two episodes of "Sarah Silverman" in the summer as part of its NewNowNext awards show weekend when the Comedy Central series won in the best show you're not watching, beating such heavy hitters as AMC's "Mad Men."

"Sarah Silverman's" writing team is expected to begin work shortly. The show's third season, which will get a cross-promotional support on both Comedy Central and Logo, is eyed for a premiere in the first quarter of 2010.

The story started off as a possible grim example of the effects of the deep recession on high-end primetime series.

But in the end, "It was all about our love for Sarah and the show, which we couldn't allow to get off the air, and about getting as creative as possible with financing in the tough economic environment," Corrao said.
