Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon says its time to add the diva’s name to the list of potential candidates to take Simon Cowell’s seat at the American Idol judging table.

Cannon revealed his wife’s small-screen ambition, saying of the coveted job: “She talks about it.

She says, 'I would love to do that'." In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 29-year-old TV executive, comedian and radio show host enthused about his beloved's talents.
“She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let's start the campaign! She's been the hardest-working woman in the industry for 20 years.”

Nick Cannon admits the 'Dreamlover' singer regularly talks about working on it, but he is unsure if she would be able to be a judge due to her other commitments.
He said: "You know what? She talks about it. She says, 'I would love to do that.'
"She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do 'Idol'."
The 29-year-old presenter also admits the show has experienced a turmoil following the departure of both Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, but he believes it will continue to be a success.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "Simon Cowell was the anchor of the show. And when he stepped out, it's like, now what? But as long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I'm watching."
Meanwhile, rumored new judge Jennifer Lopez is believed to have been removed as a potential replacement to Simon and Ellen due to her "out of hand" demands.
A source told People.com: "Her demands got out of hand. Fox had just had enough."
Jennifer was expected to join the panel alongside Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler.

Nick Cannon has joked that he and rumored-to-be-pregnant wife Mariah Carey will name all their children "Mariah". The rapper and DJ, who is staying tight-lipped about their new addition to the family, told his morning radio show in New York:

"We're gonna do it like George Foreman. We're gonna name all of our kids Mariah no matter if they're boys or girls. - Mariah No. 1, Boy Mariah, Man Mariah, Tall Mariah. It's gonna be a house full of people named Mariah."Former world boxing champion Foreman, 61, famously named all his five sons George.

Cannon, 29, wouldn’t confirm rumors about the 40-year-old superstar’s supposed pregnancy, instead saying she will speak publicly when the time is right.
"I'm pretty sure that when my wife is ready to make any announcement it won't be to the media, to the public, first," he said. "She'll tell her family, she'll tell her friends, and then, when she's ready to share with the rest of the world, who is her extended family and friends, then she'll let everybody know.”

Nick Cannon claims he and wife Mariah Carey "never thought" about adoption.

The couple - who married in April 2008 - are believed to be expecting their first baby and though the rapper-and-presenter refused to be drawn on the speculation, he admits he and the singer would love to have a child of their own.

He said: "I've never really thought about adopting. That's never really come up. But marriage, you want to have a family, that's one of the reasons to get married. When the timing is right."

Nick also claims he hasn't "thought about" what would be the most exciting aspect of fatherhood.

He added to America's OK! magazine: "What would excite me? I don't know. Those are deep questions. I haven't thought about those questions yet."

The 40-year-old singer is said to be "very excited" about expecting her first baby with husband Nick Cannon - who she married in May 2008 - but is trying to keep the news quiet.

A source told RadarOnline.com: "They're both very excited and very happy.

"Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can."

A spokesperson for the star refused to confirm or deny the news.

The rapper-and-presenter admits his superstar spouse lives up to her demanding reputation and he claims she takes five hours to get ready when they go out.

Nick said in an interview on 'Lopez Tonight': "Imagine if you've got the diva of all divas. If we've got to be somewhere at five or six o'clock, I tell her it's time to go at noon so she gets those five hours to do what she needs to do."

Although she likes to keep him waiting, the 29-year-old star has never been happier and says he and Mariah, 41, are always having fun.

R&B diva Mariah Carey has fueled baby rumors by abruptly pulling out of her latest film role.  The 41-year-old, who has previously gushed about her future hopes for children with husband Nick Cannon, has reportedly bailed on her appearance in Tyler Perry's new film.

According to People.com, Carey, who won acclaim for her gritty part in hit movie Precious, was set to appear in the adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1975 stage play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.

Filming was set to start next month, but on Tuesday Carey withdrew from the project.
"I'm not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time," Carey's spokeswoman Cindi Berger told the website, when asked for a reason behind the superstar's surprise move.

Carey and comedian Cannon recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary by renewing their vows.
Both have previously left fans in no doubt they want to start a family.
"We're going to do it, and when we do it we're going to let you all know," Cannon, 29, said last year.  "But right now, we're trying to enjoy the newlywed aspect."

Mariah Carey got a bath time shock yesterday (06.05.10) when her dog jumped in the tub with her.

The singer wanted to have a long relaxing soak to unwind when her beloved Jack Russell Terrier ChaCha leapt into the bubbles and started splashing about.

She tweeted: "My dog ChaCha just jumped in the tub while I was trying to take a bath & she won't get out (obviously I did lol). (sic)"

However, rather than get angry, Mariah got out and watched the pampered pooch repeatedly dive into the bath, spilling water everywhere.

Mariah Carey's publicist says the 40-year-old U.S. pop star is not pregnant with her first child, contrary to media reports suggesting she might be.

Carey married 29-year-old singer, actor and television personality Nick Cannon in 2008.

Her representative, responding to recently published photos that prompted gossip about pregnancy, told UsMagazine.com Monday the recording star is "not pregnant."

Mariah Carey is to marry Nick Cannon for a third time this month.

The couple - who originally tied the knot in 2008 - plan to renew their vows again on April 30, their two-year wedding anniversary, with the singer already demanding more expensive jewellery from her spouse to mark the occasion.

Nick said: "We get married every year! That's our thing. So it's going to be our third wedding this year.

"That's what we'll be doing on the actual anniversary... We'll do something... a party or event, just to celebrate. This is the third ring I have to buy. It'll be something different - something good."

According to leaked details of her 2010 tour rider, the 'Hero' singer is just as demanding backstage as she is with her husband.
