Cheryl Cole was named Woman of the Year last night (08.06.10).

The 26-year-old singer was handed the prestigious prize at the Glamour Awards which were held in London's Berkeley Square.

Upon collecting the accolade, Cheryl - who is currently divorcing cheating husband Ashley Cole - said: "Four or five years ago I'd never dreamt I'd be here amongst so many women. One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much."

Other winners at the annual ceremony hosted by the women's magazine

included Dannii Minogue who was presented with the TV Personality of the Year award, Lily Allen who received the Solo Artist of the Year accolade and Billie Piper who was named UK TV Actress of the Year.

Earlier in the evening, Cheryl admitted it felt strange attending the ceremony - which was hosted by British comic star James Corden - alone.

She told UK television show 'GMTV': "I'm feeling really good, I'm really excited actually. I've never been to one of these things alone - last time I was here was years ago with the girls, so it's really exciting."

Matt Bellamy is waiting for an invite to play poker with George Clooney.

The Muse frontman - whose property in Italy's Lake Como neighbours that of the Hollywood actor - admitted he was hoping to get invited round for a spot of gambling because he was confident he could win some money off him.

He said: "I have seen him cycling back and forth, he likes his bicycle. I was hoping for an invitation to play poker. I'll take him on, heads up, 10 grand a piece. I'm good enough at poker to take on someone like him. Or he could come round mine for some freeze-dried Bolognaise."

The 30-year-old musician struck up a close friendship with Lily Allen when they performed together in Australia, and says they enjoyed seeing the sights of the country when they were off stage.

Lady Gaga is reportedly struggling with several health issues and has been tested for Lupus.  What is Lupus?  The disease is defined as a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys.

Contact Music reveals Gaga has had several health issues in the last year, "including breathing difficulties, blurred vision, stress and headaches."
She has told her fans not to worry, though the report reveals the disease already killed one family member.

More musical notes... Lily Allen (pictured) has admitted she would love to write music for Lady Gaga one day. The 25-year-old is taking a break from performing and said she would like to write music for other artists - and the Bad Romance star would be top of her dream list.

She said to UK newspaper Daily Mirror: "I am so happy. Writing for other people is what I want to do - you won't see me performing after this year. "Lady Gaga would be the ideal person I'd want to write for, but she's doing a pretty good job herself."

Allen also revealed that she has had an offer from the people behind UK band Girls Aloud about writing some music for them.
She added: "What is funny, though, is that the Girls Aloud people from Xenomania have just offered me a job to come in-house as a writer for them. Pretty mad! Er, I'll have to think about that one."

Lily Allen can't stop thinking about her new house.

The 'Fear' hitmaker won three prizes at the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards in London yesterday (20.05.10) but admitted she couldn't fully enjoy her success because she was too busy worrying about the home she is sharing with boyfriend Sam Cooper.

Speaking after the ceremony, she told BANG Showbiz: "I haven't finished moving at all.

"I'm here but I'm also thinking of all the boxes in my kitchen that I need to organise."

Lily Allen In Hat-Trick At UK Ivor Novello Awards

Quirky pop singer Lily Allen took home three awards for songs from her smash album "It's Not Me, It's You" at the Ivor Novello awards on Thursday, crowning an eye-catching year of success for the wry British singer.

A teary-eyed Allen, dressed in a parachute-style pale yellow dress, snapped up gongs for best music and lyrics and for most performed work for hit single "The Fear."

"This song is so much about feeling so lost in a lot of ways and this has made me feel quite found all of a sudden," she said.

She and co-writer Greg Kurstin also won songwriters of the year for their work on Allen's album which combines light pop tunes with sharp, chatty lyrics about everyday life.

The 55th edition of the Ivor Novello awards, which endeavor to reward artists for the quality of their composing rather than their commercial success, also gave nods to some lesser known acts.

Indie songstress Bat For Lashes -- real name Natasha Khan -- won the best contemporary song award for "Daniel," upstaging more popular tracks from breakthrough artist La Roux and cheery rapper Dizzee Rascal.

"Who would have thought when I was sitting in my pajamas in my bed writing this song I would be standing up here with this," Khan said, collecting her award.

Duran Duran singer Simon LeBon gave young Scottish singer Paolo Nutini his award for best album. Nutini's "Sunny Side Up," a rootsy departure from his radio-friendly past efforts, saw off competition from Rascal and a long player about cricket by The Duckworth Lewis Method.

Former guitar player for The Smiths Johnny Marr received an Ivors Inspiration award in recognition of his influence over a generation of strummers and angsty songwriters and top producer Trevor Horn was rewarded for his contribution to British music.

Oasis songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher was on hand to present the lifetime achievement to Paul Weller, who has found success across three decades with The Jam, the Style Council and his acclaimed solo work.

The ceremony also recognized writing for video games, television and films such as the soundtrack for animated movie "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs."

The special international award went to soft balled crooner Neil Sedaka.

"It has been a crazy career of 58 years," Sedaka said. "This is trendy fickle business, but the song is the bottom line. The song is what really counts."

Lily Allen is desperate to get pregnant.

The 'Not Fair' singer - who recently announced she was to take a five-year break from music - is keen to start a family with boyfriend Sam Cooper and wants a baby within the next 12 months.

She said: "I'd like to have a child within a year. It'll be a minimum of four or five years before I make a record again.

"I know what commitment it takes to release an album. I don't think that mixes well with the idea of settling down and having children, which is ultimately my goal and more of a priority than flying around the world."

The 25-year-old star says once she becomes a mother she will dedicate her life to her children.

Lily Allen claims her pop star persona is a character she has "no control over".

The 'Not Fair' singer told how people instantly think they know her because they relate to her autobiographical songs, but she is very different from the character she sings about.

She said: "I've had enough of being me. I've had enough of being Lily Allen, I want to be me now.

"Whatever situation I'm in, whether it's going to the supermarket, the pub or a club, or in the back of a cab, people think they know me. And the reality is they don't. Lily Allen is a character I have no control over. I've got nothing to do with it except my face is the one that goes with it."

The 24-year-old pop star also said winning a BRIT award - one of the highest accolades in music in the UK - for British Female Solo Artist this February meant "absolutely nothing" to her.

Cheryl Cole's wealth has grown by 150 per cent in the last year.

The 'Fight for This Love' singer - who is the face of L'Oreal Elvive hair-care range and Coca Cola Zero - came fourth in the Young Music Millionaires aged 30 and under list with earnings of £10 million.

She was beaten to the top spot by Charlotte Church, Katherine Jenkins and Leona Lewis, who are all worth £11 million.

Dr Philip Beresford, who compiled the list, claims the statistics prove British women are working harder than ever and no longer need a man to be a success.

He said: "The girls are showing you can make it big if you keep trying. It doesn't matter where you come from. Drive and determination can get you the Hollywood lifestyle."

The highest charting male on the list - which is part of the annual Sunday Times Rich List published on Sunday (25.04.10) - was Craig David, worth £8 million, putting him at number seven.

Dr Beresford added: "Britain's women superstars are showing they have the talent and drive to make it big in their bank balances. And they can do it without the support of overpaid husbands or hangers-on."

Among the surprise inclusions were Joss Stone, who is worth £4 million more than Lily Allen with £9 million earnings and Katie Melua, who came in one place behind 26-year-old Cheryl raking in £10 million in 2010.

Katie Price could be taking a leaf out of Lily Allen’s book after being asked to star in Australian soap opera Neighbours!

Whilst we reckon Katie’s life is pretty much a soap opera in itself, the Aussies love her show What Katie Did Next so much that the show’s directors want to get her down under for a cameo in the show.

It’s thought Katie will be tottering down Ramsey Street when she travels to Oz later this year to film scenes for What Katie Did Next and promote her equestrian range.
