If you love Kirsten Dunst, be happy, because Lars von Trier has cast her in his psychological sci-fi disaster film Melancholia and it means she’ll be back on our screens. If you can’t stand her, be equally pleased... because he’ll probably do terrible things to his cast.

And what a cast – Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Udo Kier and not one Skarsgaard, but two, in the shape of Stellan and Alexander. It’s almost as if von Trier threw darts at big list of names pinned to a wall, but it’s definitely an interesting bunch.

With a budget of $7 million and a planned European shoot, it’s based on a script von Trier wrote but has yet to reveal many details about, beyond the fact that it deals with a variety of people trying to cope with the death of the planet. Oh, and he used the phrase “no more happy endings!” in a press release.

This one, we have to see. Even if it makes us want to lie down with a wet towels over our brows and whimper once the lights go up.
 

Movie News - Actress Penelope Cruz is reportedly in talks to star in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The 35-year-old is said to be negotiating a role opposite Johnny Depp in the fourth film in the swash-buckling franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The fourth movie will be directed by Nine's Rob Marshall and filming will begin in Hawaii in the summer. Jerry Bruckheimer will be producing the movie, which is scheduled for release on May 20, 2011, according to Variety.
Disney have kept details of the film's plot a secret and it is being written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott.

More film news...Lord Of The Rings stars Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortensen are Hollywood's highest-earning screen pair. The duo appeared as lovers in Peter Jackson's hit movie trilogy and they helped the movies make $2.9 billion at the box office.
Spiderman stars Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire came second in the list, which was put together by Forbes magazine, after the three films made $2.5 billion. Also in the list were pairs of actors that had appeared in more than one movie together.
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio came third in the list after making $1.8 billion for Titanic and then $75 million for Revolutionary Road in 2008.

Kirsten Dunst is no longer friends with ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.

The actress dated the 'Brokeback Mountain star for two years, before the couple split in 2004, and admits they haven't remained on friendly terms.

She said: "It would be nice to see him. But we're not good friends."

While Jake is now dating Oscar-winning beauty Reese Witherspoon, there is no one special in Kirsten's life at present.

The 'Spider-Man' star - who previously dated Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell - told Allure magazine: "My girlfriends will sleep in bed with me, but no guests, not long-term anyway."

Kirsten, who was born in New Jersey, recently went on a trip across America and was shocked at how much poverty there is in her home country.

She said: "After we were done, I was like, 'Wow, America is so poor.' Just the towns you come across - all that's there are restaurants and gas stations.

Back in 2007, her room at the SoHo Grand hotel was burglarized, and today (September 24) Kirsten Dunst is scheduled to testify against the thieves.

The “Crazy/Beautiful” actress will take the stand in a Manhattan courtroom hoping to put mechanic James Jiminez and Jarrod Beinerman behind bars.

The burglary saw Dunst lose a $13,000 Balenciaga purse, a $2500 Marc Jacobs handbag, cash, credit cards, an iPod, two cameras, and her cell phone.

Yesterday, the court showed the surveillance video in which Jiminez and Beinerman were seen leaving the hotel with Kirsten’s belongings. Dunst’s “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” costar Simon Pegg is also expected to testify.

Enjoying the Big Apple happenings, Kirsten Dunst came out to catch the latest fashions at Rodarte Spring 2010 fashion show in NYC on Tuesday (September 15).

The lovely actress looked stunning in a copper, sparkling dress matched with black tights and black pumps as she chatted with friends before the show.

Previously, Sony Pictures heads Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton mentioned that "Spider-Man 4" might film in 3-D, citing James Cameron's "Avatar" as a potential game-changer in the movie scene. While news on the movie taking 3-D is still to be announced, IMAX is a sure thing.

They’re both regular fixtures on the Hollywood red carpet, and last night Demi Moore and Kirsten Dunst were spotted arriving at the 2009 HollyShorts Film Festival.

Miss Dunst had a big smile on her face as she posed in the arrivals area in her sexy strapless blue dress with black heels.

Meanwhile, the “Charlie’s Angels” actress looked lovely as she sauntered past the paparazzi outside the Directors Guild of America, sporting a salmon-colored sleeveless dress.

And in related news, Demi and her husband Ashton Kutcher narrowly avoided catastrophe when their plane from Las Vegas to NYC was forced to perform an emergency landing.

Kutcher tweeted, "My plane just had to do an emergency landing. Engine over heated. Fire engines everywhere good times." Demi added, "Yep it is always an adventure in Vegas emergency landing and all."

According to Life & Style Weekly, eight months after breaking up, Drew Barrymore and Justin Long had two, romantic dates back-to-back in LA this week. The on-again couple walked into Hollywood hotspot Bar Marmont on Thurs., March 12, arm in arm, surprising onlookers. “Drew walked in with Justin, and all heads turned. They were definitely acting like more than friendly exes!” an eyewitness didshes to the celebrity magazine.

The report claims that Drew and Justin spent the next few hours engaging in full-on PDA. “They couldn’t get enough of each other.  I don’t think they even noticed that there were other people in the room! In between kisses it was all smiles and laughs.”
The item adds that the next night, the lovers reunited at Ike sushi in Hollywood. "They sat at the sushi bar and ordered Sake and dinner. They were both in a great mood. They were smiling ear to ear the whole time, and laughing and looking they were so happy they were going to burst,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style.

"Once they polished off the sake, Justin ordered a Sapporo beer and split it with Drew. Justin grabbed Drew's hand and held it on his thigh. They looked in love. They finished their dinner with him springing for the tab, and walked out arm in arm.”

Kirsten Dunst is reportedly dating Josh Hartnett.

The couple - who have been romantically linked several times over the past year - have further fuelled rumours they are together after they were seen enjoying an intimate dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi in New York on Thursday (22.01.09).

A source said: "They were whispering and smiling at each other. At times it looked like she wanted to grab his hand, but stopped. She was especially smitten with him."

Kirsten and Josh - who met on the set of 'The Virgin Suicides' in 1999 - were first linked last January after being spotted kissing at the Sundance Film Festival.

A source commented: "They were making out like crazy and dancing together all night."

In July, the couple were seen leaving a New York nightclub after spending the whole evening together.

A source said: "Kirsten went straight towards Josh when he came in and spent a good half hour laughing and chatting him up by the bar - their faces were so close, they might as well have been eskimo-kissing."
