The Liverpool-born actress - whose family emigrated to Canada when she was just three months old, returning for five years when she was 11 - plays British divorcee Amanda in new play 'Private Lives' on London's West End and she has had to take drastic measures to ensure nothing jeopardises her accurate portrayal of the character.

She said: "I'm not calling home as much as I used to because I start sounding American again.

"I've been around British accents all my life. But I've worked quite hard to get it right."

Kim - who worked with a dialect coach and immersed herself in British television to prepare for the play - is best known for her role as Samantha Jones in 'Sex and the City'.

Kim Cattrall would have been "fine" without 'Sex and the City'.

The 53-year-old star - who won her role in the series about a group of four friends in New York at the age of 42 - claims that although the show turned her from a jobbing actress to a household name, she would have been happy without the success it has brought.

She said: "If it hadn't come along I think I'd have been alright too. I'd have a really good, strong, journeyman actress career. That would have been fine."

Kim - who plays Samantha Jones in the show and its spin-off movies - even said she didn't take to the script when she first read it, saying she saw only a "miserable" woman and a group of people she "didn't care" about.

Kim Cattrall claims acting "consumes her life" so much she can't hold onto her relationships.

The 'Sex and the City' actress - who split from chef Alan Wyse last July after five years together -finds it hard find love with anyone outside of her profession but hasn't given up hope of settling down one day.

Kim, 53, said: "It's very hard for someone not involved in this business to really understand what it's about.

"You work 12-hour days, and something like a series literally consumes your life. I think it's just time not there, really. But I'm still hopeful that I'll meet someone."

Although she keeps challenging herself in her acting career, Kim says sticking to the character she is best known for - man-eater Samantha Jones in 'Sex and the City' - would be much easier.

Kim Cattrall has confirmed the 'Sex and the City' franchise may continue.

The 53-year-old actress suggested that the film versions of the original television series may continue on past a second outing.

She said: "It was fantastic. I think as long as we have stories to tell. It was very interesting because we did this series for six years and we ended it at the exact right moment, we didn't repeat ourselves.

"I think we'll tell stories as long as they are there to tell."

The star, who plays maneater Samantha Jones in the movie, also confirmed that shooting had wrapped on the second film.

Although Kim would not confirm much of the storyline, she did discuss filming in Marrakech with cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

"It was really fascinating to take these four strong independent women from a completely different society and plop them into that world. And all of the storylines that happen from that are extraordinary.

"There was one particular day where I spent almost 12 hours on a camel in the Sahara."

Kim Cattrall wants to make the most of being comfortable with sex.

The 51-year-old actress - famed for her man-eating character Samanatha Jones in the 'Sex and the City' TV series and movies - says she's over the trend of older women dating younger men and thinks the stereotype of a so called "cougar" is dead.

She said: "Cougar is passe. I think we're on to something else now. It's not about kitten or cougar - we're moving beyond those stereotypes.

"It's about so much more than just being a woman on the prowl - there's a lot more going on than that. We've done the work, let's enjoy the party. Let's not limit ourselves to labels. 'Cougar' makes it all feel one-dimensional. It's not."

Sarah Jessica Parker has again denied reports that she doesn't like her Sex And The City co-star Kim Cattrall, saying: "I don't think anybody wants to believe that I love Kim." The 44-year-old mother-of-three denied that friction between her and Cattrall was to blame for filming being stalled on the new SATC movie.

Kristin Davis thinks 'Sex and the City 2' is like "condensed soup".

The 44-year-old actress - who plays lovable art dealer Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the US TV series and movies - says bosses have crammed so many dramatic plotlines into the upcoming sequel it is much more intense than the 2008 first big-screen outing.

She told MTV: "This one is not going to be that long. It's like condensed soup. It's different, and adventurous and rich, and there's music involved."

Kristin - who stars in the films with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon - also revealed the cast are currently working long hours to complete the film.

She explained: "We were shooting nights last week, and pretty much for the two weeks before that. All night. We were not doing a night exterior, but that's how many hours we needed to get certain things done. When it comes out, you're going to know what I'm talking about. I can't tell you right now, except to say that they are huge scenes with like hundreds of people in them!

Getting ready for a trip out of town, Sarah Jessica Parker and son, James Wilkie, were spotted leaving their Greenwich Village townhouse on Monday afternoon (October 19).

The Carrie Bradshaw cutie and her little boy are reportedly on their way to Morocco, where she will continue filming the "Sex & The City" sequel.

Accompanied by a nanny to help her out with James, insiders tell that SJP will be out of town for SATC duties until December.

Playing her part in what’s sure to be a box office hit, Miley Cyrus filmed scenes for “Sex and the City 2” yesterday evening (October 16).

Alongside Kim Cattrall, the “Party in the USA” singer looked beautiful in a strapless silver dress while the Samantha Jones actress was wearing….the exact same thing!

As for the reports that her marriage to Matthew Broderick is still on the outs, SJP told press nothing could be farther from the truth.
