The singer-and-actress - who dated the 'Gravity' singer for nine months before splitting in May 2007 - admits she still has feelings for him even after he discussed their sex life in a recent interview, in which he called her "sexual napalm".

She said: "I will always care about him. I think he's a great person, a great musician, but I was very disappointed by the article."

Although she was upset at the interview, Jessica - who was famously a virgin until she married ex-husband Nick Lachey in 2002 - admits it was a "compliment" as he was positive about her skills in the bedroom.

She said: "Normally you'd think someone you care about would keep those details to himself. It was definitely a compliment, in a way. I don't really want people to know that about me. I'm like the good girl, then that happened.

The singer-and-actress - who has been romantically linked to the Smashing Pumpkins rocker since he helped her record the theme song, 'Who We Are', to her latest TV series 'The Price of Beauty' - says she and the musician have a special bond but refused to say whether the had or are dating.

She said: "I can't find good enough words to speak about Billy. He's a very, very dear friend. For him to give his time and his talents and share them with me, it was a great experience. And I hope we can do more music together."

Despite her troubled love life, Jessica - who has been in relationships with American footballer Tony Romo, womanising singer John Mayer and ex-husband Nick Lachey - is still willing to open up to new guys.

She added in an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show: "I'm not as guarded as you would think. I should probably be more guarded. I trust a lot of people, actually."

Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan has spoken about his rumored relationship with Jessica Simpson in a candid US magazine interview.  In this week's Rolling Stone, the 42-year-old frontman explained the way it looked from his view.

He said: "If I go, 'Oh, we're just friends', then it's like, 'Did they go out, did he dump her or she dump him, what happened'? "It has nothing to do with any of that. Sometimes people just like being around each other, and good things come out of that.

"My goal in life is to love whoever I think is worth loving, and I think if people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do. It’s really simple," Billy concluded. Reports that the two were dating emerged in December, when a source told E! Online that Jessica was "smitten" with the alternative rock icon.

The singer-and-actress was at a cocktail party to celebrate Oscar-nominated movie 'The Hurt Locker' and soon caught the attention of one of its stars, Jeremy Renner.

Onlookers at the bash - which was held at the home of Madonna's manager Guy Oseary - claim the pair couldn't keep away from each other and hit it off immediately.

One told people.com: "Jeremy spent the night hitting on Jessica like crazy. They were really flirting up a storm.

"Jessica loved it! When the party was over, the two exchanged numbers, entering them into their phones."

The singer-and-actress has revealed she hasn't forgiven the 'Gravity' singer - who she dated for nine months until May 2007 - after he described their sex life as "crazy" and hopes he will sort himself out.

Discussing his recent apology over the remarks, she told chat show host Oprah Winfrey: "I haven't written back. I don't accept it... I hope he gets his life together."

A source told America's OK! magazine: "Joe took it upon himself to call John up directly for a 'man to man' discussion. Joe didn't tell Jessica ahead of time because he knew she'd object.

"The conversation was pretty one-sided. Joe told John that he best not even think of uttering Jessica's name again.

"John put up a feeble defence - he tried to reason with Joe that he was praising Jessica, not insulting her. But no father wants to hear from an ex-boyfriend about how hot his daughter is in bed - and Joe told John as much.

"Joe told John to stay away from his family and man-up and apologise for his comments."

John - who dated Jessica for nine months until May 2007 - has reportedly attempted to make amends with his ex-girlfriend, but his efforts have so far been unable to win over her protective dad.

The source added: "John did email Jessica and tell her he was sorry if the interview offended her.

Billy Corgan says his rumoured romance with Jessica Simpson was "like being in a cartoon".

The Smashing Pumpkins rocker couldn't understand the media storm which grew around his relationship with the singer-and-actress, and insists reports of them dating were far from accurate.

He said: "The stuff that I've seen doesn't have any bearing to the reality that I'm in. It's like being in a cartoon. It has nothing to do with what's really going on or how I feel."

He claims he was approached by Jessica to work on the theme song for her latest TV series 'The Price of Beauty'.

He added to US TV show 'Access Hollywood': "I ended up writing part of the theme song. She asked me to help her out. It has a little bit of an alternative rock edge, but it's still very poppy."

Reports of Billy and Jessica dating first surfaced in November last year, though by January they were said to have split.

Jessica - who was previously married to Nick Lachey and more recently romanced American footballer Tony Romo and womanising musician John Mayer - recently revealed she wants her next husband to be an "artistic man".

She said: "My next husband will be an artistic man. It will show you the colours of my character, the person that I fall in love with next.

Life & Style reported earlier that Jess, 29, and the Smashing Pumpkins front man, 42, went into an LA recording studio, where Billy was working on the Pumpkins’ new project.
