A source on the show said to EW: "I'm not sure whether her people approached Idol, or if it was the other way around." However the insider added that Simpson was just one of 'dozens' who have been considered for a role.

Lopez's manager Benny Medina is said to have sat down with television producers a month ago for negotiations, and allegedly they sealed the deal earlier this week, Deadline reports.
The daytime talk-show host's resignation follows ongoing speculation surrounding who will take Simon Cowell's place when he leaves the talent program.

Will Jessica Simpson become a judge on American Idol? An earlier report claims the actress-singer, 30, is currently in negotiations with the show’s producers to join the cast of the talent competition, according to reports.

The report also claims Jessica already met with the programme’s creator and producer Simon Fuller a few times to discuss her role. A source told US magazine Life & Style: "They like her [Simpson] – she's a good fit – and she likes it.

She also likes her new beau.  Jessica and new boyfriend Eric Johnson got very affectionate with each other in front of the singer's mother, according to reports. The pair were reportedly joined by some friends and the singer's mother Tina this evening at Mexican eaterie, Dos Caminos, in Manhattan.
And the Dukes Of Hazzard star, 30, reportedly got “very touchy-feely” with her football beau during the meal. A source told UsMagazine.com: "He [Johnson] always had a hand on her back, was touching her hair and kissing her head.” When the table was cleared, the lovers even “made out a few times".
Simpson’s younger sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, 25, recently told UsMagazine.com that she approves of her sibling’s new boyfriend. She said: "She is happy, so we are all really happy."

While her fans would love to see Jessica on Idol, so would her manager and father, Joe. “He’s been heavily involved with Idol,” a second insider tells Life & Style. “His client Travis Garland performed on the May 19 show. Joe was there to support him, and Jess wrote one of his songs.”
So will Jessica make her dad’s day by signing on? “She’d be crazy to turn it down,” says the first insider. “She’ll just say things without thinking, and that’s what they want — that’s great TV!”

Jessica Simpson is “practically living with” her new boyfriend. The 30-year-old singer and former American football player Eric Johnson were photographed passionately kissing while enjoying a relaxing break in Jacksonville, Florida, over the weekend. The couple have been rumored to be dating since they met at a party at Jessica’s house five weeks ago, and their public displays of affection have confirmed their romance.

Now, a friend of Jessica’s has opened up about the whirlwind love affair, revealing Eric and Jessica spend almost every night together because they are so “super-serious” about their relationship.
“They’re exclusively dating,” the pal gushed to Us Weekly magazine. “She lets him stay at her house, and she spoils him with presents. They have become super-serious and intense very fast. They’re practically living together.”
Eric is currently married, but has filed for divorce from his wife. The marriage should be officially dissolved within the next few weeks, leaving Eric and Jessica free to marry if they want to.
“There is no ill will and the divorce will be settled in the next couple of months,” the source continued. “Eric clearly makes her laugh and he seems amused in her company as well. I know she is really happy.”

Her new boyfriend is former NFL football player Eric Johnson, who is best known for playing for the San Francisco 49ers, although he last played for the New Orleans Saints back in 2008.

Johnson split from his wife earlier this year, filing for divorce in February. Simpson – whose new show The Price Of Beauty airs on VH1 – started dating Johnson in May and a source told TMZ.com that the new couple are “very happy”.
Simpson previously dated Dallas Cowboys football player Tony Romo from 2007 to 2009.

Gossip website TMZ reports the pair started dating officially in May, and friends say they are now “very happy”.
Jessica has romanced a string of men since she divorced boyband singer Nick Lachey in 2006, including John Mayer, who recently called her “sexual napalm” in an interview with Playboy magazine, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and American football star Tony Romo.

The Price Of Beauty star Jessica Simpson said she has 'shocked her system' with her new clean diet. The 29-year-old admitted she may have gone too far with some of her recent healthy-living activities.

She said on Twitter: "Shocked my system with a vegan diet, special Pu-erh tea from China, and cupping since friday!"
The Pu-erh tea she was talking about has widely been called a weight-loss drink.

She later added: "Who am I right now? This might be too clean!" Simpson also talked about cupping, a Chinese ritual where cups are put on the skin in a similar practice to acupressure.
She said: "Has anyone ever tried cupping? When u know you are doing something good for ur body the meditation creates intense visions. Love it!"

Jessica Simpson almost exposed herself in a restaurant.

The singer-and-actress was eating a meal with friends at the Beverley Hills Hotel Polo Lounge recently when a morsel of food accidentally flew off her fork and disappeared down her low-cut top, causing her to scream out in surprise.

The US star dug around to retrieve the food stuff, "ruffling up" her top in such a way that fellow diners in the restaurant were becoming so uncomfortable they had to look away.

A source told the National Enquirer magazine Jessica "not only dug down into her top, ruffling through bra and cleavage, she even tried burrowing out from beneath, wriggling and digging diligently for the lost tidbit."

Singer and actress Jessica Simpson has won an arbitration to keep an exercise video featuring her from being marketed.

The arbitrator's decision was revealed in a court filing on Friday by lawyers for Simpson, 29. The lawyers asked a New York state court to approve the April arbitration ruling, which bars Speedfit LLC and its owner, Alex Astilean, from using Simpson's name and likeness to promote the 2005 video.

The arbitrator awarded Simpson nothing on her breach-of-contract claim but awarded $357,587 to cover fees and costs. Astilean was ordered to pay Simpson's business manager, David Levin, $50,000 for defamation.

Astilean said in an interview that he plans to challenge the arbitrator's ruling. He said he had countersued Simpson for $10 million.

"I worked for one year to edit a very good video," and now "my video is nowhere," Astilean said. "We lost the house, we lost everything. We don't know how we're going to survive."

John Rosenberg, a lawyer for Simpson, said, "My clients are extremely pleased with the arbitrator's decision and are fully confident that the award will be confirmed by the court."

Speedfit shot the video over three days in August 2005, the same month that Simpson appeared as Daisy Duke in the movie "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Simpson and her business management company, With You Inc, accused Speedfit of failing to deliver a video fit for sale, despite having one year for editing.

In a 35-page ruling, arbitrator Kathleen Roberts called the case "particularly difficult" because Astilean had spent years developing the Speedfit system, and because the battle with Simpson was "personally and financially devastating" for him.

But she said "Astilean's frustrations with what he believes to be the bad-faith conduct" of Simpson led him to unlawfully publish materials related to the video and to defame Levin.

Astilean said he has hired a lawyer, who did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Speedfit is based in East Hampton, New York, according to its website.

The case is With You Inc et al v. Astilean et al, New York State Supreme Court, New York County, No. 106746/2010.
