Janet Jackson still expects her late brother Michael to call her.

The 'All For You' singer - the younger sister of the 'Thriller' star, who died last June from acute Propofol intoxication aged 50 - says her grief gets easier with every day that passes, but she would do anything to hear him speak again.

She said: "It gets sad sometimes because, I don't know, you think your phone is going to ring and you hear that voice calling your name. But, yeah, life goes on and everybody grieves differently. And every day is different. Some days it's much easier than others."

Janet, 43, also revealed Michael's untimely passing made her realise she needed to make changes in her life.

She said in an interview with Wonderland magazine: "A lot of people in this industry have a lot of 'yes' people. That I can tell you I do not have. A lot has changed in my life this year, a lot of changes, I think I'm kind of heading in a different direction for sure."

More music notes...Janet Jackson has spent lots of money on her niece and nephews this Christmas, say sources. Paris, 12, Prince Michael I, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, whose father Michael Jackson died earlier this year, will reportedly spend Christmas Day with his sister Janet.
"It was to be a quiet, somber holiday this year but Janet has stepped in to make it just like Michael did - fun," a UK magazine quotes a friend of the family as saying.
"Michael loved Christmas. He was like a big kid and now Janet has taken that on. She must have spent thousands on trees, decorations and the kind of toys Michael would have loved to be fooling around with on Christmas morning."

Janet Jackson said the realisation of her brother Michael's death only hit her three months after his death.

The 'Make Me' singer said she had avoided everything that could remind her of her Thriller' singer brother after he suddenly passed away in June, until she was about to perform at the

MTV Video Music Awards in September, when she saw a huge picture in tribute to him.

Janet, 43, said: "It hit me before I was about to do the performance, and it hit me when we were in rehearsal.

"There was a huge image of him on this screen, and I started to cry. I had to step away."

She also said that she is continuing to come to terms with the singer's death, of acute intoxication by the anesthetic Propofol, but that she feels in future things will get easier.

Janet Jackson is still upset her family were unable to get her brother Michael off drugs.

The 'All For You' singer says she and the rest of the Jackson family knew the late pop legend - who died in June from acute Propofol intoxication - was abusing prescription drugs but their attempts at an intervention were unsuccessful.

When quizzed about her sibling's drug use, she said: "Those are the things you do when you love someone. You can't just let them continue on that way. And we did a few times but we weren't very successful."

Despite the family's best efforts, Janet claims Michael - who had a cocktail of prescription drugs in his system when he passed away - wouldn't accept that he had a substance abuse problem.

She added to 'Good Morning America' host Robin Roberts: "He understood our efforts were out of love, because of caring. But when people are like that they tend to be in denial. But I wish he could answer that question for you and not me."

Janet is not the first member of the Jackson family to reveal they had tried to get the 'Thriller' singer off drugs.

Tito - who was a member of the Jackson 5 along with his sibling - accused his brother's employees of helping him obtain and use prescription drugs against the wishes of his family.

Janet Jackson has confirmed she has split from boyfriend Jermaine Dupri.

The singer - who was first rumoured to have separated from the music executive in July - admitted she didn't keep in touch with any of her ex-lovers apart from Jermaine during a US radio interview.

Speaking on Atlanta's 'Bert Show', Janet said: "I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that. But Jermaine is one of my best friends. I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk."

Janet, 43, was reported to have ended her seven-year relationship with Jermaine, 37, in the summer in the wake of her pop superstar brother Michael's shock death in June.

At the time, it was claimed the 'All For You' singer decided to call time on the romance because she felt suffocated by her lover.

A mutual friend of the pair said: "You shouldn't mix business with pleasure. Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate."

Pop star Janet Jackson holds Michael Jackson's personal doctor responsible for her brother's sudden death and has told ABC News that a day does not go by when she doesn't think about her late sibling.

"He was the one that was administering," Janet Jackson said about Houston-based physician Dr. Conrad Murray. "I think he is responsible."

Murray, who was hired to treat Michael Jackson in the months before Jackson died on June 25 of a drug overdose, is currently a target in the manslaughter investigation of the "Thriller" singer's death.

Since June, Los Angeles County coroner officials have said the powerful anesthetic propofol, which is used in surgery, and the sedative lorazepam, were the primary drugs responsible for Jackson's death. Police have referred the case to prosecutors to determine if criminal charges should be filed.

Janet Jackson has remained mostly quiet about her brother's death, but she spoke with ABC television journalist Robin Roberts in an interview set to air Wednesday night on the network's show "In the Spotlight."

"It's been a tough year," Jackson told Roberts, in excerpts posted on ABC News' website on Monday. "You have your days where it's just really -- it's hard to believe. And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."
