Singer and actress Janet Jackson posed in a mink coat as the new face of luxury fur company Blackglama earlier this month. The Grammy winner stars in Blackglama Fur's new "What Becomes A Legend Most?" campaign and joins a roster of famous names who have promoted the mink fur company over the past 40 years, including Sophia Loren, Diana Ross, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.

Now some are furious with Jackson for her decision to place her face in front of the company. PETA has criticized her and called her desperate and others are piling on as well.
Dancing with the Stars and Baywatch babe Pam Anderson is particularly vocal on her complaints with Janet's decision.

Will Janet care?
Earlier Jackson had revealed she doesn't give an "F" what people say about her, and she let loose in a revealing interview. The 44-year-old entertainer made her stunning comments to Essence.
She says: "There comes a time when you don't give an F what people say or think. You just do your thing because it's finally about you and not in a selfish way but in a great way."

Blackglama Fur's chief executive officer Joe Morelli said: "Janet is an icon in the world of music and entertainment, a true legend.
"She represents everything that this storied campaign embodies.
"Janet is to entertainment what Blackglama is to luxury."

Animal rights activist Pamela Anderson is disappointed that Janet Jackson has become the new face of a fur label. Jackson fronts the new advert campaign for fur label Blackglama's What Becomes a Legend Most.

And Anderson thinks Janet has made the wrong decision in agreeing to wear fur in the ads. The 43–year-old told Out magazine: "It's disappointing, she has spoken out against fur before. "I don't know why some people stop listening to their heart, I guess some people get greedy, but it's sad."

PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews also got involved by sending Janet a letter about her choice. He wrote: "You and I spoke at length about the fur issue.
"You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur."
He added: "You were very straightforward and sensible about it, what happened?" The 44–year-old singer joins a host of other people who have taken part in the ad campaign including Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Ross.

Janet Jackson: Chest Binding Really Affected Me

Janet Jackson says having her chest bound for a TV show when she was a youngster “played tricks” with her head. The star played Penny Woods in the sitcom Good Times when she was aged 11 to 13. She claims the way her body developed naturally didn’t fit in with the show, so her breasts were flattened beneath her costumes. The decision had a lasting effect on Janet, who says she felt she should be ashamed of her figure.

“When I was doing Good Times they wanted me to bind my chest. I started developing at a young age. They didn't tell me that they were going to do this. They just did it as I was getting dressed for the first show,” she told Essence magazine.
“So under the little sweatshirt, that Band-Aid is wrapped around my chest to make me look flatter. That plays tricks here [she points to her head]. You're an innocent kid and you immediately start thinking how you look naturally isn't good enough. It really affected me, up until now.”
The 44-year-old says she has now come to accept her body. She feels proud of her curves, and hopes to show other women their bodies should be a source of joy.
“There comes a time when you don't give an F what people say or think,” she said. “You just do your thing because it's finally about you and not in a selfish way but in a great way.”
Janet has now penned a self-help book called True You, which includes tips on making the most of your physique.
The star is still grieving the loss of her brother Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25 last year. She has started a relationship with businessman Wissam Al Mana, who is ten years younger than her, and says the romance has been important in helping her heal.
Janet dismisses the gossip about the age difference in their romance, insisting it is of no importance to her.
“It's horrible. It's really awful,” she replied, when asked about the negative comments about their ages. “And I have to believe it was a man that started that. Mother always raised us to believe that age was just a number. All of us - my sisters, my brothers - we'll just tell you our ages because it's all about where you are mentally and how you feel about yourself.”

Janet Jackson stayed away from televisions following the death of her brother Michael Jackson last June.

The 44-year-old singer-and-actress confesses she had a tough time when shooting her latest movie 'Why Did I Get Married Too?' because of Michael's death of an Propofol overdose last year, but channelled her energy into the film and stayed in touch with her family to check up on details.

Speaking at a special screening of the film at the Brixton Ritzy Cinema, London, Janet told BANG Showbiz: "It was very tough at times. It was very, very difficult. I just tried to do my best. It was very therapeutic and very draining in other ways. You know, it never left my mind what was going on.

"I stayed away from watching any television whatsoever, but I stayed in touch with my family on a daily basis. It was difficult at times but it helped me to heal. The tears in the film, those were real tears."

Janet Jackson (pictured) visited "The Oprah Winfrey Show" where she opened up about her late brother, Michael and his drug issues, admitting that the family knew he had a problem.

She told Oprah and the audience: "People think we were in denial but we weren't. We tried intervention several times. He was very much in denial -- he didn't think he had a problem."

It has also been revealed that Janet also broke down in tears – for a movie that was filmed at the time of her brother Michael’s death. Director Tyler Perry said the 43-year-old singer channeled her pain into her performance for the role in Why Did I Get Married Too?
A trailer for the film – which has just been released in the United States – shows a distressed Janet sobbing, with tears streaming down her face. In one bit, she even loses her temper, screaming and smashing a house up with a golf club.

The movie, which also stars Perry, was mid-production in June last year when Michael Jackson died after being given a lethal cocktail of drugs. Perry, 40, revealed he even changed the film’s ending as a result of the singer’s death.
In the original script, Janet’s character had been due to speak at a funeral. “He was on my side. He was constantly checking up on me,” Janet said of Perry. “He stopped production and came down to the service.”

Janet Jackson Calls Film Role "Intense," "Cathartic"

Playing a grieving mother in a movie even as, in real life, your brother's death stirred the world would be hard for anyone, and for Janet Jackson the experience proved "intense" and "cathartic," she said.

Her new movie, "Why Did I Get Married, Too?" debuts in U.S. theaters on Friday, and has Jackson playing a self-help psychologist who suffers a family tragedy and then sees her marriage fall apart.

"It was very intense for me. Very cathartic and therapeutic at times," she told Reuters about working on the movie that was filming on June 25, 2009 when pop star Michael Jackson died.

"It was draining as well. Taking that home and eventually it leaving my body and getting up and starting all over again the next morning," said Jackson.

The younger sister of Michael and his Motown legend Jackson 5 brothers, Janet is a superstar in her own right, having sold millions of albums with titles such as "Control" and "Rhythm Nation" and acted on TV and in movies since she was a child.

In writer and director Tyler Perry's new movie, a sequel to his "Why Did I Get Married," Jackson portrays psychologist Patricia whose anger over her son's death fuels trouble in her seemingly perfect marriage to Gavin (played by Malik Yoba).

Jackson said she could readily identify with her character's emotions.

"Especially her not dealing with her own issues. That was something I used to do and would always suppress when those feelings came up for myself," Jackson said.

Like much of Perry's work, "Why Did I Get Married, Too?" borrows from comedy and drama as it interweaves the tales of several middle-class African American couples who are friends with Patricia and Gavin.

In the story of the husband and wife, they learn that everyone must be allowed to deal with personal tragedy in their own way.

"Everyone grieves differently, and the partner just has to be very patient and let them go through it. But they have to go through it. They can't suppress it and it takes time," Jackson said. "I was different about it than the rest of my family."

"Thriller" singer Michael Jackson died after he suffered cardiac arrest at a rented mansion in Los Angeles. His death has been ruled a homicide by overdose of prescription drugs, namely the anesthetic propofol.

His physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty.

Janet Jackson still expects her late brother Michael to call her.

The 'All For You' singer - the younger sister of the 'Thriller' star, who died last June from acute Propofol intoxication aged 50 - says her grief gets easier with every day that passes, but she would do anything to hear him speak again.

She said: "It gets sad sometimes because, I don't know, you think your phone is going to ring and you hear that voice calling your name. But, yeah, life goes on and everybody grieves differently. And every day is different. Some days it's much easier than others."

Janet, 43, also revealed Michael's untimely passing made her realise she needed to make changes in her life.

She said in an interview with Wonderland magazine: "A lot of people in this industry have a lot of 'yes' people. That I can tell you I do not have. A lot has changed in my life this year, a lot of changes, I think I'm kind of heading in a different direction for sure."
