Cheryl Cole has praised Derek Hough for saving her life. The Girls Aloud star - who is on the mend after falling ill with malaria - has thanked her close friend for demanding medics carried out further tests when her condition was still undiagnosed.

She reportedly told a friend: "Derek saved my life. If he hadn't spoken out to the doctors and told them he thought something was seriously wrong I would probably have died.
"I thought I had a bad case of flu and everyone else agreed. I was even told to stay at home and get some rest. The doctors were so certain it was not serious, and I believed them."
The 27-year-old beauty was bitten by a mosquito while on a trip in Tanzania with the 'Dancing With The Stars' hunk back in June, causing her to fall ill.
After collapsing during a photoshoot, Cheryl was taken to hospital and reportedly sent home after being told she had flu and was suffering from exhaustion.
Hours later Derek insisted she went back to the Cromwell Hospital in West London, where he demanded doctors took out a series of blood tests to discover what was wrong with her - and they learned she had the potentially life-threatening tropical disease.
Derek is now determined to help Cheryl recover and has promised her mother Joan Callaghan he will make sure she eats properly and gets plenty of rest.
A source said: "Derek blames himself for Cheryl getting the malaria and was terrified she was going to die. She's become so important to him, he could not imagine his life without her. He was worried sick and was going without food and sleep he was so concerned. Derek is just thankful she is OK now - and he has vowed to stay close to her so he can do everything he can to make sure she stays healthy.
"Derek has been put under strict instructions to make sure Cheryl eats properly and doesn't overdo it. He has to check in with Joan every day to reassure her. But Joan trusts him and has been really impressed at how he has been there for Cheryl. Derek has been at her side constantly."

Cheryl Cole has asked Derek Hough to live with her as she recovers from malaria. The 27-year-old pop star told the American dancer he could move in to her mansion in Godalming, Surrey, while he hunts for a house in London.

Derek, 25, has stuck by Cheryl's side over the past few weeks as she recovered in hospital from the potentially-fatal tropical disease she picked up on their vacation to Tanzania.
The singer is keen that Derek - who she has been romantically linked to - has somewhere to stay while he meets West End show producers, TV executives and firms who have offered him a string of work offers.
The 'Dancing with the Stars' dancer plans to relocate to the UK for the rest of the year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "She's more than happy to have him move in. She is on her way back to full strength now and is looking forward to having a pal round to keep her company.
"Derek is looking for somewhere of his own in west London. But before he finds a new home, he's glad to shack up with Cheryl."
The news comes just after Cheryl's 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell reportedly ordered her to stay single.
He told the Girls Aloud singer - who is in the middle of divorcing her husband Ashley Cole - to curb her rumored romance with dancer Derek and concentrate on her health instead.
A source said: "He feels Derek is a distraction that she simply doesn't need."

Cheryl Cole wants to raise money to stop the spread of malaria in Africa. The pop star was hospitalized after contracting the potentially fatal tropical disease during a trip to Tanzania and while she has been recovering she has decided she wants to help sufferers in the continent.

A friend of the star said: "Cheryl wants to raise money for mosquito nets and better medicines across the worst-affected regions of Africa. After hitting such a terrible physical low, she has come to realise just how awful the disease is and how lucky she has been to receive the best medical care."
The 27-year-old singer - who had to pull out of the audition stages of pop star search show 'The X Factor' and cancelled her scheduled appearances at the V Festival in August so she can fully recover - was discharged from hospital earlier this month and is now convalescing at her home in Surrey, South East England.
Meanwhile, Cheryl's estranged husband Ashley Cole is selling the north London apartment he shared with the Girls Aloud star before they married.
The soccer player - who is currently in the process of getting divorced from Cheryl - is evicting his tenants from the property so he can put it on the market.
A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: "Ashley informed his tenants that they were being evicted three weeks ago, even though their tenancy is not over. He is hoping to sell up by the end of next month. He wants no more ties to Cheryl or the homes they once shared."
Ashley, 29 and Cheryl moved into the apartment in 2004 before they got engaged. After they married they relocated to a £6 million Surrey mansion in 2008.

British pop star and TV personality Cheryl Cole has canceled all work commitments this week due to an undisclosed illness, the BBC reported Tuesday.

Cole, 27, is a member of the music group Girls Aloud, as well as a judge on the competition series "The X Factor." She also recently toured as a solo act supporting the Black Eyed Peas.

"Following doctors' advice Cheryl Cole will be canceling all work commitments for the next week," Cole's spokesman told the BBC, declining to comment on a report by The Sun claiming Cole collapsed at a weekend photo shoot, then was diagnosed with exhaustion and gastroenteritis.

The star had reportedly had a high temperature and felt sick when she arrived, but had assured her team she was well enough to take part.
Minutes after starting work, Cheryl fainted. She was later found to have a gastroenteritis bug. “She should never have gone to the studio. She insisted she was fine, even though she clearly wasn't,” a friend of the star told British newspaper The Sun. “Her skin was pale and her lips had no color. She's rundown and tired. That's why she ended up with the stomach virus.
“She told the photographer she'd be all right if she got her make-up on. But once she was under the lights it was clear she wasn't well. Eventually she just keeled over. It was horrible. She was only out for a few seconds but it was enough to give everyone, including Cheryl, a massive scare.”
Cheryl’s management have told bosses on talent show The X Factor, including Cheryl’s fellow judge Simon Cowell, she will need time off to recuperate. The program is currently filming the audition round, with a number of big-name stars standing in for judge Dannii Minogue, who is too heavily pregnant to take part. Music manager Louis Walsh also sits on the panel.
It has been claimed Cheryl has been working 18-hour days since splitting from Ashley. As well as shooting The X Factor, she has toured with the Black Eyed Peas, been working on her solo album and starring in photoshoots. She is believed to have lost 7lbs since they parted ways, with her mother Joan Callaghan reportedly asking her to relax her strict diet in recent weeks.

Jason Bateman Apologizes on Twitter, while Katy Perry claims a new crush on Cheryl Cole.  Jason Bateman caught some serious criticism for reports that claimed he cut in line for an iPhone.  He uses Twitter and apologizes.
 
Reports claimed he was given celebrity treatment and whisked to the front of the line at a Los Angeles Apple store that was selling the iPhone.
It was day one of the release of the cell phone and there were long lines.  A store employee reportedly saw the actor is line and escorted him into the store in front of everyone else.

Boos erupted, according to witnesses that talked to Us Magazine and he was ripped online by fans and celebrity bloggers.
He is now using a bit of social networking to try to quiet the critics.
He posted: "If some were mad, I didn't see them. I wish I had. If you're out there, I'm sorry." "It was so much drama! It was the most surreal experience. People were so pissed because that line was ridiculous."

Katy's new crush - Katy Perry revealed that she has had a crush on Cole since joining the Girls Aloud singer and the rest of the X Factor judges at the show's auditions in Dublin.
She later wrote on her Twitter page: "I wish Cheryl Cole tweeted, she was a sweeeeetie pateeetie [sic] today. (Girl crush alert.)"

Before the auditions, Perry told how she was looking forward to meeting Cole for the first time – saying she loved her dimples.
Perry was standing in for pregnant judge Dannii Minogue – and appeared to be the first guest-judge not to get booed after Geri Halliwell and Natalie Imbruglia both faced taunts from the audience.

Cheryl Cole is planning a $150,000 holiday to celebrate her birthday. Cheryl turns 27 next week and is set to mark her special day at her Surrey mansion with her family. However, her hectic work schedule will ease up later this summer and she has decided to travel to the Spanish party island of Ibiza to have some fun.

Cheryl’s Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding has convinced the star to take a break from work and join her in Ibiza while her DJ boyfriend Tom Crane is working at some of the clubs. Their bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts are also expected to spend a few days there, along with Cheryl’s collaborator will.i.am.
“On the other hand, she sees this birthday as a major milestone in her life,” a source told Grazia magazine. “She’s ready to move forward in a big way and on her own terms. The vast majority of the time, her life is all about discipline. She’s so busy that if she’s not strict with herself then she’d go mad or get seriously ill, but everyone needs to let their hair down sometimes.”
Cheryl and Sarah are renting an eight-bedroom mansion in Ibiza which has its own swimming pool and private chef. The stars are also keen to hire a yacht and will be indulging in a series of luxurious beauty therapies.
Those close to Cheryl are believed to be encouraging the star to let loose and party during her time on the island with Sarah.
“Sarah is great for getting Cheryl to relax her normally highly regimented life,” the source added. “With Sarah, Cheryl stays out late, drinks more than usual and eases up on her diet. Sarah is the only one who can get her to relax her no-carbohydrates rule, but that’s kind of a metaphor for their relationship. Sarah’s the queen of fun and Cheryl is finally ready to have some herself.”

Kimberley Walsh is "feeling broody".

The Girls Aloud star - who has been dating partner Justin Scott for six years - wants to settle down and raise a family with her boyfriend eventually, but isn't ready to give into her maternal urges at the moment.

She said: "Yeah I am feeling broody, but I am not ready to have that commitment just yet. Eventually I would like to settle down and have children.

"We're both in the same place and we're enjoying our lives together at the moment so hopefully it will just naturally come about."

Cheryl Cole says her mother is her biggest role model.

The 26-year-old pop star insists her mother Joan Callaghan inspired her to be a better person because she has such a positive outlook on life.

Cheryl - who moved Joan into her marital home while she was still living with her now estranged husband Ashley Cole - said: My mum's a great person. When I was growing up, she was never somebody who commented on other women. You know you hear women commenting on other women in a mean way? My mother was never like that. Everybody is lovely in her eyes."

The Girls Aloud singer accepts she is now a role model to thousands of women, but it is something she is comfortable with and proud of.
