Will play Ellen Page play Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming U.S. version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo?  Page along with Rooney Mara, and Mia Wasikowska have been mentioned for the part.  Pop Watch from EW.Com scratched off Carey Mulligan’s name off the list of candidates for the role.

Page is off another box office winner.  Her new film with Leonardo DiCaprio, "Inception" has topped the North American box office last weekend.

The film is directed by The Dark Knight's Christopher Nolan and stars DiCaprio opposite Juno's Ellen Page. The movie tells the story of thieves who steal secrets from people's dreams.
DiCaprio recently spoke to BBC News and said the new blockbuster is a welcome change from the usual summer movies. He said: "It's nice to see films like this and other films which come out that take a gamble a little bit, and don't underestimate their audience, and challenge them."

Drew Barrymore Off to Oz

Not so long ago, in a story about Sam Mendes, Robert Downey Jr, and Oz the Great and Powerful, we listed all the Wizard of Oz projects currently bubbling away at various stages of development. There's now yet another potential guest at the party. Drew Barrymore, according to the folks at Pajiba, will be following Whip It! with Oz sequel Surrender Dorothy.

The script, as originally prepped, was by Zach Helm (Stranger Than Fiction), but with Surrender Dorothy being set up at Warners (by Barrymore's Flower Films), which is also the home of a similar-sounding pitch by Josh Olsen, it's not unreasonable to wonder whether the two projects will somehow be merged.

Whatever, the general idea is that Dorothy's great great granddaughter has to learn to wield the power of the ruby slippers to protect both Oz and our own world from the Wicked Witch of the West. A version of the film was under development a few years ago with Barrymore set to star. This time she's attached to direct, and there's no hint yet as to whether she also intends to step in front of the camera, as Dorothy Jr, or anyone else. Pajiba suggest a re-teaming with Ellen Page. Maybe Drew could be the witch?

The Christopher Nolan directed film in due out in July 2010, telling the story of "a CEO-type who becomes involved in a blackmailing scandal."

The Oscar winning actor spent time hanging out with MTV reality star Whitney Port, who he's been linked to romantically - although the pair have since denied the claims.

Page has teamed with HBO for "Stitch N' Bitch," a comedy she will write with two other young actors, Alia Shawkat and Sean Tillmann. The show follows two painfully cool hipster girls as they relocate from Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood to Los Angeles' Silver Lake enclave in hopes of becoming artists -- of any kind.

Page, Shawkat and Tillmann will executive produce the project. They might also star in the single-camera comedy; that decision will be made later.

The three worked together on the Drew Barrymore-directed "Whip It," which is in theaters. Page plays the lead, and Shawkat co-stars. Tillmann has a small role.

Page, an Oscar nominee for her breakthrough role in "Juno," is filming "Inception" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

"Arrested Development" alumna Shawkat recently wrapped "The Runaways" and co-starred in "Amreeka." Tillmann also is a musician who goes by the stage names Har Mar Superstar and Sean Na Na.

Ellen Page Loves Shovelling Dung

Ellen Page loves shovelling goat manure.

The 22-year-old actress took time away from the spotlight after appearing in 2007 movie 'Juno' to deal with her newfound fame, and found completing manual tasks helped her relax.

She said: "I went to Oregon to study permaculture and lived in an eco-village for a month outside Eugene. It's called Lost Valley. It was amazing and exactly what I needed.

"You're learning how to live in a holistic way with the cycles of the Earth. At one point I was digging goat manure and putting it into a wheelbarrow, and while shovelling it, I just went, 'Oh, my God, this is exactly what I want to be doing right now.' "

Ellen is determined not to change now she is famous, adding her life is so normal she hopes people won't be interested in hearing about it.

She said: "I'm not a fancy person. I love small spaces. I like tiny cars. I don't buy things, aside from music and books. I don't get loads of attention and maybe it's because I'm kind of boring. I don't think I'm boring, but I have different interests. I don't go out much, not because I'm hiding but because I'm not a big drinker. I go out and have a good time, I go to concerts and stuff."

"Whip It" Remarkable Directing Debut For Drew Barrymore

With "Whip It," her remarkable debut as a director, Drew Barrymore proves that she is just as perky, quirky and talented behind the camera as in front of it.

Set in the exciting but less-familiar world of women's roller-derby racing, the film, which also stars the ever-delightful Ellen Page in her first role since "Juno," should perform exceptionally well for Fox Searchlight domestically and perhaps do even better overseas, given its exotic setting.

The fact that "Whip It" clicks on so many levels -- heartwarming family story, rough-and-tumble display of grrl power and a secondary but tender and convincing romance -- also can't hurt. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, opens October 2.

Page is Bliss Cavendar, a pretty, intelligent girl from small-town Texas who longs for the freedom that beckons from the hip big city of Austin. Her mail-carrier mother (Marcia Gay Harden) entertains dreams of her carrying off huge trophies in local beauty pageants, and her Milquetoast father hides out watching football games to avoid his wife's wrath. One day, Bliss happens upon some fliers advertising an all-girl roller derby, and she's hooked. Knowing that her loving but strait-laced parents would never allow her to involve herself in such a dangerous, working-class and dead-end activity, she begins leading a double life that, after lots of complications, finally catches up with her. It probably won't be much of a spoiler if it's revealed that everything turns out well in the end.

This familiar yet simultaneously different heartwarming tale of misunderstandings, smothering love and ultimate triumph is loaded with cliches, as might be expected. But somehow writer Shauna Cross (adapting from her novel) manages to inflect the story with fresh twists, most of which come from showing girls do what only boys have been allowed to do onscreen in the past.

So, for example, when Bliss and her rock-band boyfriend reconcile after a series of misunderstandings, it's exactly what we expect, but newly empowered Bliss, no fool for love, makes sure the relationship is re-established on her terms, not his. And in this movie, the gross-out humor (vomiting, food fights and the like) is the newly won province of the girls, not the boys. The biggest surprise is the astonishing amount of violence that the girls wreak upon one another virtually nonstop in the many competitions that are brilliantly choreographed. They show off their bruises to one another like badges of honor. Of course, the film only is meant as an innocent entertainment, but somehow it seems more than that, like the start of some fundamental gender shift in the movies, especially when Bliss explicitly attacks her mother for trying to foist her "1950s idea of womanhood" on her. These are women who don't want to be corporate lawyers, they want to kick ass.

Page, whose derby moniker is Babe Ruthless, is predictably adorable and somehow seems more like a real person than the sometimes cartoonish, overly quippy smart-aleck she memorably played in "Juno." The acting is top notch throughout, again proving the old saw about actors who turn director being particularly attuned to performance. Barrymore and Juliette Lewis are especially delightful.

She’s been on a non-stop press tour for her new movie “Whip It” and last night (September 13) Drew Barrymore premiered the film at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The “Charlie’s Angels” babe looked lovely as she posed for the paparazzi along with Ellen Page and Kristen Wiig outside the Ryerson Theatre.

As for the film’s soundtrack, Drew said she absolutely loved getting to hand pick the songs that made the cut, including some material from ex-boyfriend Fab Moretti’s new band.

"What was so exciting was to finally get to make a film that I could make an ultimate mixtape for and put the two together. It was sort of waiting my whole life, incubating, and I finally got to make them together... I'm really excited to bring that music to people."

"Most of the people who are on this soundtrack are friends, people we took the time to go to personally and ask them if they would associate themselves with the movie, or people that we discovered that we can't wait to get to know. It's really interesting to have such personal relationships with everyone."

Out for some promotional fun, Drew Barrymore was spotted in Farmington Hills, MI last night (September 11).

The 34-year-old actress sported quite the interesting ensemble in a plaid pants suit, a Rolling Stones tee and black heels as she posed for pictures to promote her new film, “Whip It.”

Ms Barrymore hung out with members of the Detroit Derby Girls who appear in the movie and spoke to the media outside a free, open-to-the-public skating event at the Bonaventure Skating Center.

“Whip It” was directed by Drew and tells the story of an ex-beauty pageant contestant – played by Ellen Page - that leaves her crowns behind after joining a roller derby team.

It hits theatres on Friday, October 2nd.

Rainn Wilson Is Just Super

Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler are set to star in Super, a new superhero comedy that Slither's James Gunn is writing and directing. Will there be room for some PG-Porn in there, or perhaps a giant mutant alien (just for luck)? We can only hope so.

The Office's Wilson will play an average Joe who adopts the pseudo-super alter-ego of the Crimson Bolt, and beats up his enemies with a wrench (well, if you don't have superpowers, a wrench'll basically do the same job). He's prompted by seeing his wife (Tyler) fall under the spell of a charming drug dealer. It remains to be seen what role Juno's Page will play, but we'd put money on it being some sort of wise-cracking teen.

Shooting starts in December, but in the meantime for your fix of barmy Gunn humour rent Slither on DVD (we mean it) and/or check out some PG-Porn on his website. Safe for work, though you might not realise it at first.

Continuing their work on the new Christopher Nolan flick “Inception,” Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page were spotted on the Paris, France set today (August 19).

The “Catch Me if You Can” stud and the “Juno” cutie looked to be enjoying themselves as they chatted in between scenes, though when Nolan yelled “action,” it was all business.

And although the production company is trying to keep the film’s details secret, a source tells that “Inception” is a contemporary sci-fi action thriller set within “the architecture of the mind.”

Besides DiCaprio and Page, stars like Michael Caine and Marion Cotillard will also lend their skills to the flick, due out July 16, 2010.
