Christy Turlington wants to take her children to visit deprived communities in Tanzania.

The 40-year-old supermodel - who has worked with aid agency CARE International in Latin America and Product Red in Africa  - believes taking three-year-old Finn and Grace, six, to help others less fortunate will make her a better mother.

Christy - who married actor Ed Burns in 2003 - explained: "I look forward to them being old enough to come with me; I plan to take them to Tanzania when they're eight and 11. I think sharing the world with them will be my greatest contributions as their mother.

"I've told them about some of the conditions I've witnessed, but I balance that by describing the natural beauty of a place like Africa. They can identify the spots I've visited on a map, including Bangladesh."

Christy - who became inspired to start charity work after meeting struggling pregnant women in El Salvador in 2006 - already discusses her charity work with the children so they can understand why she has to travel abroad.

She added to Parents magazine: "I learned that more than half a million women around the world die giving birth each year, and nearly all the deaths are preventable.

Stepping out for a spin on the catwalk, Naomi Campbell took part in the 25th anniversary London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 show on Sunday (September 20).

Held at the Somerset House, the sexy supermodel showed of a variety of different looks as she strutted her stuff for Issa.

Meanwhile, Miss Campbell has been vocal in her disliking of the fashion industry's unwillingness to hire black models.

She tells, “The only time they care about black models is in February because it is Black History Month. Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington would go to big designers and say, ‘If you don’t pick Naomi to be in your show, then I don’t want to be in it.’ That’s how I got Prada and Helmut Lang. The only reason I got the cover of French Vogue was because Yves Saint Laurent called up and told them he’d pull his ads if they didn’t. So of course I got the cover."

Supermodel Elle Macpherson is returning to acting with a recurring role on CW's drama pilot "Beautiful Life."

The project revolves around a group of male and female models living together in New York.

Macpherson will play Claudia, the owner of Focus Models, the top modeling agency in New York. She is an '80s supermodel who is still in great shape and runs her business with the efficiency and toughness of a dictator.

She joins Mischa Barton, Ben Hollingsworth, Sara Paxton, Ashley Madekwe and Nico Tortorella in the pilot.

Like her character, Macpherson was an '80s supermodel. In fact, along with Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Paulina Porizkova and Cindy Crawford, she became part of the first generation of supermodels.

In the 1990s, she segued into acting. But after appearing in a string of movies, including "The Edge," "If Lucy Fell" and "Batman & Robin" and after a recurring role on NBC's "Friends" in the late 1990s, Macpherson left Hollywood to focus on her business empire, whose portfolio of products includes workout videos, calendars, lingerie and beauty products.
