Channing Tatum Approached For "Captain America"

Add Channing Tatum to the list of actors being considered for the role of Captain America.

The co-star of the recent weepie "Dear John" now joins soap star Wilson Blethel ("The Young and the Restless") and Mike Vogel ("She's Out of My League"), who have screen-tested, as well as Chris Evans ("Fantastic Four"), who has read for the part. Marvel Studios is also still keen on Garrett Hedlund ("Tron Legacy").

At this stage Tatum, who just wrapped filming on the Steven Soderbergh action flick "Knockout," has only been approached for the role and has not seen a script. The actor played Duke in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," but despite that movie doing modestly at the box office, fanboy reaction was muted and its viability as a franchise is set on neutral.

Tatum certainly has the heft for Captain America, but can he play the 98-pound weakling alter ego Steve Rogers was before taking the super-serum which turns him into a perfect human specimen? This could be Tatum's chance to pull a "Machinist" -- Christian Bale lost 60 pounds for the role in the 2004 drama which, while attracting some heat from health groups, received acclaim for his performance in that movie.

Casting for other roles in the Captain America movie is just as hot.

Hugo Weaving's deal is still being worked on, though not much movement has occurred since last week.

And the search is on for the female lead. Details for the part are being kept secret for now but it is rumored to be his flame Betsy Ross (ironically, named after the woman who is credited with creating the American flag). Keira Knightley was approached last week, but the studio is also looking at other actresses.

Channing Tatum's wife forced him to do a striptease for her.

The 'Step Up' actor enjoyed his time as an exotic dancer when he was 18 and says his spouse Jenna Dewan - who he married last July - was delighted when he revealed his secret to her, but insisted he showed off his skills straight away.

He said: "I did it for almost a year. I've lived a crazy life, for sure.

"It seemed like a fun thing to do at the time and I got out unscathed. It's nothing I'm ashamed of and I'm not proud of it either. I wanted to talk about it in the beginning of my career but my publicist wouldn't let me.

Channing Tatum's Penis Injury

Channing Tatum "burned the skin off" his penis.

The 29-year-old actor suffered the agonising injury while trying to keep warm when shooting 'The Eagle of the Ninth' in the Scottish Highlands in October.

He explained: "The only way to keep warm was by pouring a mix of boiling water and river water down your suit. We were finally done shooting for the day, and one of the crew guys asks if I want to warm up before I go. I'm like, Nah, I'm good. And then I thought, Why not?

"Thing is, he'd forgotten to dilute the kettle water. So he poured scalding water down my suit. And I was trying to pull the suit away from my body to somehow get away from the boiling water, and the more I pulled the suit away, the lower the water went. It just went straight down and pretty much burned the skin off the head of my d**k."

Channing  - who describes the incident as "the most painful thing" he had ever experienced - was taken to hospital, but with the nearest medical facility over an hour away, the former stripper struggled to cope with the agony.

He added to Details magazine: "I said to the driver, who was ex-special-forces Marines, 'You might have to knock me out, because I don't know if I can take the pain. Just grab something and hit me on the back of my head.

Filming has begun on the Roman epic adventure "The Eagle of the Ninth," starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland, its producers said.

Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald is directing the movie, which is being shot entirely on location in Hungary and Scotland.

The film is co-financed by Film4 with Focus Features, which holds worldwide rights excluding U.K. free TV.

The project reunites Macdonald with Jeremy Brock, the BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter of his 2006 film, "The Last King of Scotland."

Brock adapted the screenplay of "The Eagle of the Ninth" from Rosemary Sutcliff's novel of the same name.

"All of us at Focus are thrilled to be once again collaborating with our colleagues at Film4 -- their support for the most exciting voices in British filmmaking is unparalleled," Focus Features Chief Executive Officer James Schamus.

Twilight star Christian Serratos (pictured) is dishing secrets from Twilight and the New Moon movie and has said that the cast of the movie often hang out together off-set. Serratos, 18, played the role of Bella's schoolmate, Angela Weber, in the movie and will reprise her role in New Moon, due out later this year.

Talking about how the films have taken off, she said: "It was an epic experience and so massive. I didn't expect it. But we all get along so well. "We film and get our work done, and then we all get together, we go to dinner, we have fun. We're all around the same age so we just mesh really well."

More Twilight buzz...GI Joe star Channing Tatum's wife Jenna Dewan has revealed that she thinks her husband would have been perfect to play the role of Riley in Eclipse. Dewan, 28, said she believes Tatum, 29, would have been ideal for the role of Riley in the third instalment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse. The part of Riley eventually went to Xavier Samuel in the flick, but Dewan believes director David Slade should have picked Tatum.
She said: "I totally tried to get him to do it. I was like: 'Baby, do Twilight!' Oh, my god. I'm a huge Twilight fan. I've read all the books. So I was like: 'You should do it, you should do it, you should do it!'" The Public Enemies actor met Dewan on the set of the 2006 dance movie Step Up and began dating soon after. They married last month in Malibu, California.

And it sounds like Channing’s new wife Jenna Dewan has been thoroughly enjoying her time in the Big Apple while her hubby is hard at work.

While shopping in Soho, Ms. Dewan tweeted, “I’m a little obsessed with TopShop shoes now.” Later she added, “Going to dinner at the Waverly Inn. So excited. The food is to die for. Between Ray’s Pizza, NY Bagels, and Café Habana, I’m in food heaven!”

She’s been working hard to promote her new movie “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and earlier today (July 29) Sienna Miller was spotted at a press conference in Seoul, South Korea.

Joined by co-stars including Channing Tatum, the “Factory Girl” gal looked lovely as she chatted with members of the press at the Shilla Hotel, sporting a black and yellow scoopneck top with black leggings and black heels.

And in a recent interview, Miss Miller sounded hopeful that “G.I. Joe” would be the key to turning her career (and reputation) around for the better.

“It’s really exciting to be in a film that people actually want to go and see! I was having to pay people to see my movies! If you want to make amazing, artistic films, you’ve got to have some sort of box office credibility, which I don’t have.”

She continued, “I basically realized that I was so resentful for so long about the state of my celebrity, but I wanted to turn it around and do something good.”
