Carrie Underwood had a simple hairdo for her wedding to cope with the humidity. The country singer tied the knot with ice hockey player Mike Fisher last month and the bride wanted to have her blonde tresses put up because she didn't want her locks ruined by the heat.

Her make-up artist Melissa Schleicher said of the nuptials at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro: "It was really, really hot and it was raining around 4 o'clock, just before the wedding, so I had to think of the humidity. The hair was a concern so I did kind of an updo. I just curled it all over and just pieced it up and pinned it with bobby pins all over, real simple."
Melissa says Carrie was so confident with what she would do with her hair the pair didn't have a practice run. She said: "We didn't practice before the wedding or anything - we've done so many award shows and so many hairstyles, so she just lets me do what I do."
For the ceremony, Carrie wore a Chantilly lace and silk organza Monique Lhuillier gown but has admitted she changed into a strapless cocktail dress for the reception so she could showcase her dancing skills better.
She said "The wedding dress was huge, I wanted to get my boogie on, so I had to change."

Carrie Underwood said she wanted to be someplace warm for her honeymoon and the newly married country singer has certainly got her wish.  Newlyweds Carrie Underwood and Ottawa Senators ice hockey star Mike Fisher have been catching some rays on their Tahitian honeymoon.

The beauty (pictured here from an earlier vacation) wears her favorite pink bikini this weekend as her and the new hubby relaxed and "soaked in the sun outside their ocean-front beach hut," reports Just Jared.

They have plenty of pics and honeymoon photos of the pair as they have been seen lounging on the deck of their private beachfront hut on the island of Bora Bora, with the singer stepping out in a hot-pink, halter-neck bikini RadarOnline reports.
Underwood has previously been seen taking a dip in the Pacific waters.
The couple wed last weekend at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in front of 250 family and friends, with the bride choosing not one but two Monique Lhullier dresses for the event.

Emily Blunt married John Krasinski in a private ceremony in Italy on Saturday July 10, 2010.  The 27-year-old British actress and the US actor, 30, said ‘I do’ in front of a handful of friends and family members at the Villa d’Este in Como. Details of Emily’s dress are not yet known.

"John and Emily were married on Saturday in a private ceremony," Krasinski's representative confirmed to Us Weekly magazine.
George Clooney and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis were among guests who attended the intimate outdoor ceremony. John and Emily had been staying at George’s nearby home since the beginning of the month so they could be nearby to finalise their wedding plans.
They are reportedly thrilled to be wed and can’t believe how well the big day went.
"It was an outdoor ceremony and absolutely beautiful," an insider said. "It was an official ceremony. They are husband and wife,"
Emily and John started dating in 2008 and got engaged last August.
The couple weren’t the only stars to wed this weekend. Martin Lawrence married his longtime girlfriend Shamicka Gibbs in a private ceremony at the actor’s Beverly Hills home yesterday.
Around 120 guests attended the ceremony, including Eddie Murphy and Denzel Washington.
Country singer Carrie Underwood and former MTV host LaLa Vasquez also tied the knot with their respective beaus Mike Fisher and Carmelo Anthony yesterday afternoon.

Idol notes - Carrie Underwood has a weekend wedding planned as the gorgeous country singer is set to be married NHL boyfriend and soon-to-be husband Mike Fisher sometime on Saturday, reports have claimed. The 2010 American Idol Live! Tour got some bad news this week, the tour that stars the Idol finalists is being cut short.

Follow the idol related stories below.

One - Carrie Underwood is expected to tie the knot with her ice hockey player boyfriend on Saturday, July 10. The American Idol winner is keeping the location of her marriage to Mike Fisher a secret, with even the guests being kept in the dark.
Her friends and family have been told to fly to an airport in a southern city, from where they will be taken by jet or limousine to the location, the New York Post reports.

Two - More bad news for American idol as the tour that stars the finalists from the show has been reduced. Angela Carson reports "The tour will end eight shows early, wrapping up August 31 in Indianapolis, instead of September 16 in Portland."

Carrie Underwood's Fiance Mike Fisher Planning A Surprise Honeymoon

Country star Carrie Underwood is putting all her faith in her man and leaving it up to him to organize the honeymoon. Hockey star Mike Fisher popped the question last December, and Underwood, 27, told reporters at the CMA Fest at Nashville's LP Field Thursday she is leaving the huge decision entirely in her fiancé’s hands.

She said: “[Planning] that was Mike's project. It's a surprise. I have no clue where we are going, which is nice. I know it will be warm, that's about it." The NHL player has helped with organizing the wedding, but Underwood confessed she's using a planner to sort the big things out.

"Both of us are really busy. I still have a tour to finish," the singer said. "There are a lot of great things going on this summer so [we're] getting through all that and taking things one step at a time and [having] lots of phone and email conversations."
And what to buy for the couple who have everything? The happy couple haven’t even registered a list.
Underwood added: "We really didn't register because we just want people there [at the ceremony]. The basics are always nice - a nice wine or something. You can write your name on it so when you come over for dinner, we break it out. We just want people there, that's the best gift."

"American Idol" - Siobhan Magnus Voted Off

The music of country singer Shania Twain spelled Siobhan Magnus' downfall on Wednesday, leaving only one woman among the five remaining finalists on "American Idol."

After 33 million votes Magnus, a tattooed, punk-styled singer from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was eliminated from the hit television show's ninth-season despite the judges' overall praise for her rendition of "Any Man of Mine."

Magnus showed very little emotion at being voted off the singing contest, saying she had done her best before launching a farewell performance of "Think."

The other two singers at the bottom of this week's pack were Casey James and Michael Lynche. All of the performers had landed in the bottom three in past weeks, and Lynche was actually voted off by fans before being spared by the judges, who used their once-per-season save to keep him singing.

The other remaining finalists are teenager Aaron Kelly, Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox, this season's last woman singing and a strong contender to win, despite uncharacteristically tepid feedback from the judges this week.

Wednesday's live broadcast included several musical performances, including Rascal Flatts singing "Unstoppable" before they teamed up with Colombian pop singer Shakira, debuting her new single "Gypsy."

Sons of Sylvia, introduced by season No. 4 winner Carrie Underwood, sang "Love Left to Lose" while Lady Antebellum took to the stage for "Need You Now."

Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas also made a brief appearance to promote their new movie "Shrek Forever After."

Harry Connick Jr. will next mentor the finalists for a songs-of-Sinatra themed week.

The finale airs in May, when the next "Idol" winner lands a recording contract and enviable media exposure. Past champions such as Kelly Clarkson and Underwood have achieved major stardom, but last year's winner Kris Allen has been overshadowed by runner-up, glam-pop singer Adam Lambert.

Tim Urban Out As "American Idol" Raises Millions For Charity

Time finally ran out for "American Idol" contestant Tim Urban on Wednesday as Elton John, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and The Black Eyed Peas all took to the stage for a fund-raising special benefiting children's, hunger and health charities.

Urban's elimination came at the very end of the TV singing contest's "Idol Gives Back" show and followed his uninspired performance of "Better Days" during the show's inspirational song-themed week mentored by Keys.

The more-than two hour special edition of the nation's most-watched show featured a roster of A-listers, opening with a taped appearance by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, and wrapping up with Elton John singing one of his signature hits, "Your Song."

In between were live or taped appearances by celebrities including Jennifer Garner, Victoria Beckham, Morgan Freeman, Ben Affleck and Sully Sullenberger, the hero pilot who brought his passenger plane to a safe emergency landing in the Hudson River off Manhattan last year.

The first lady ended the Obama's appearance by exhorting famously prickly judge Simon Cowell to "be nice." Comedian George Lopez also took aim in a "judge the judges" routine in which Cowell was told:

"America has voted, and you have to go back to England," although he added that he could stay due to the volcano ash cloud.

Annie Lennox was not so lucky, and apologized that the forces of nature had prevented her from leaving England to appear on stage in Los Angeles as planned.

The event, which over the years has raised more than $140 million from audience and corporate donations, was big enough to warrant a second stage commandeered by Queen Latifah outside Los Angeles.

Cowell announced about two hours into the show that it had already raised more than $15 million for the Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children and the United Nations Foundation. The money will benefit their work in the United States and in Africa.

Among musical highlights, master guitarist Jeff Beck and soul diva Joss Stone rocked the house with "I Put A Spell On You," while The Black Eyed Peas performed "Rock That Body."

Underwood, among the biggest stars "Idol" has ever produced, sang "Change," while Keys did a medley of "Unthinkable" and "Empire State of Mind (Part II)."

But after all the singing, jokes and pleas for donations from the likes of Bill and Melinda Gates and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, it came down to sending Urban home.

Dubbed "Teflon Tim" because viewers had kept him safe despite shaky performances that drew often sharp words from the judges, Urban joined Casey James and Aaron Kelly in one of this season's few all-male bottom three.

Next week's "American Idol" will be mentored by Shania Twain with the remaining contestants performing her music.

Other finalists still in the running include Lee DeWyze, Siobhan Magnus, Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche.

The finale airs in May, when the next "Idol" winner lands a recording contract. Past champions include Kelly Clarkson while even "losers" such as Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson have gone on to great success. Last year's winner, Kris Allen, has already found himself overshadowed by glam-pop singer Adam Lambert.
