Brittany Murphy's husband wanted to keep her on life support.

Simon Monjack has revealed the actress - who tragically passed away aged 32 on December 20 last year after an alleged prescription drugs overdose - was technically alive when she was admitted to hospital.

He said: "The doctor said, 'She'll be brain dead, basically.' And asked, 'What do you want me to do?' and I said, 'I want you to keep going.'

"Because in my mind, I'm thinking you never know what medical thing might happen in 10 years time."

Unfortunately, a short while later the doctors returned to say the star had taken a turn for the worse and there was nothing they could do.

The late 'Clueless' actress - who passed away aged 32 on December 20 2009 - left her entire estate to her mother Sharon Murphy, and nothing to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, it has been claimed.

Despite the snub, Simon is happy with the way his wife's assets have been divided, insisting it was on his request that he was not named a beneficiary.

According to the screenwriter, the will specifically said: "I am married to Simon Monjack who I have intentionally left out of this will."

According to gossip website TMZ, Brittany originally made a handwritten will years before she was married, which was stored in her manager's safe and left everything to Sharon.

A coroner's report has confirmed none of the drugs in Brittany Murphy’s system when she died were illegal. The LA County Coroner report confirms "multiple medications were present in the blood" but they appear to have been taken to treat a cold.

It says: “It should be noted that the pattern of use of these medications suggest treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection.

“Acetaminophen and hydrocodone are components of Vicodin. Chlorpheniramine is the active ingredient in some over-the-counter medications. L-methamphetamine is a component of some inhalers.”
The 8 Mile actress died after collapsing in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home on December 20. There were 24 empty prescription bottles found at the scene for prevacid, clonazepam, propranolol, vicoprofen, zolpidem, carbamazepine, klonopin, Ativan, hydorocodone (Vicodin) and multiple vitamins.
In early February, the coroner's office deemed her death to be “accidental”. The causes of death listed were community-acquired pneumonia, iron-deficiency anaemia, multiple-drug intoxication and an accidental drug overdose.

Brittany Murphy's widower feels "vindicated" by her autopsy report.

Simon Monjack is relieved the enquiry into the actress' death showed she had no history of drug abuse and now hopes the star - who died in December aged just 32 - will be remembered for her work, rather than her untimely death.

He said: "Although Brittany's autopsy report was incredibly shocking and sad to the family - her mother Sharon Murphy and I both shed tears - we are vindicated in that we always said Brittany never did any kind of illegal substances and that the medication she was taking was the medication found in her system. We hope now that people will understand the legacy of Brittany Murphy and the incredible body of work of Brittany Murphy.

"I am so sad that we are living in a culture of rumour and I just wish that people would understand that sometimes out of every tragedy can come some good."

The 39-year-old producer has now called for an end to the speculation surrounding the 'Clueless' star's death so the family can grieve in piece.

He added in a statement to Radar Online: "I know Brittany would want to feel the vindication. She never took a drug or a drink and that's been shown. I love her family; the rumours can stop as we grieve our dead loved one and we can get on to grieve... I think it's time for everybody to realise that Brittany was just an incredibly happy, precious angel that lives on through her fans and in our hearts."

The last film made by U.S. actress Brittany Murphy, who died in December after suffering cardiac arrest, is heading to the big screens later this year after being picked up by Anchor Bay Entertainment.

The film distribution company said in a statement that it had bought the psychological thriller "Abandoned" for North American distribution with the film set to be released this summer.

The movie, produced by Jeffrey Schenck and Barry Barnholtz, was the last film role for 32-year-old Murphy, who co-starred in films like "8 Mile," "Clueless" and "Girl Interrupted" but worked in mostly low-budget movies in more recent years.

"Brittany will be deeply missed by everyone who worked on Abandoned. The film is a taut thriller which portrays Brittany's character as smart and tough - and that's how we all want to remember her," the producers said in a joint statement.

Murphy suffered a cardiac arrest on December 20 in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home. A coroner has ruled her death accidental and the result of pneumonia, anemia and "multiple drug intoxication."

Anchor Bay Entertainment's President Bill Clark said it was an "honor and bittersweet" to release Murphy's last film that was finished in June last year.

"It was important to Anchor Bay that the timing of this release be right, because we're sensitive to such a tragic loss. However, we also recognize that Brittany's fans will want to see her amazing work," said.

In "Abandoned" Murphy plays Mary Walsh who takes her boyfriend to hospital for routine outpatient surgery but he vanishes with no record of him left behind. Soon, however, she receives a ransom demand.

The film co-stars Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers.

Anchor Bay Entertainment is a division of Starz Media LLC which is a subsidiary of John Malone's Liberty Media Corp..

Brittany Murphy Died From Pneumonia, Anemia, Drugs

Actress Brittany Murphy's death in December was accidental and the result of pneumonia, anemia and "multiple drug intoxication," the Los Angeles Coroner's office said on Thursday.

Murphy, 32, the co-star of movies "Clueless" and "8 Mile" suffered a cardiac arrest on December 20 in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.

The coroner's office said the drugs found in Murphy's body were a mixture of prescription and over-the-counter medications. No illegal drugs were found.

The preliminary report ruled her death an accident, caused by drug intake. It said she had pneumonia and suffered from anemia caused by an iron deficiency. The full autopsy report will be issued in about two weeks time.

Murphy's husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, said at the time that the actress had been suffering from laryngitis. Initial media speculation had focused on a possible eating disorder and rumors of cocaine use -- both of which she had denied several years ago.

Photographs of Murphy's last red carpet appearance in early December showed the actress in a sleeveless dress with rail-thin arms and legs.

In her career, Murphy starred in films like "Girl Interrupted" and "8 Mile" and worked with actors such as Michael Douglas, Ashton Kutcher, Eminem and Angelina Jolie.

But in more recent years, she worked mostly in low-budget movies.

Brittany Murphy's husband and mother were questioned by coroners at their home yesterday (03.02.10).

The late 'Clueless' actress' spouse Simon Monjack and her mum Sharon Murphy - who lived with the couple in Los Angeles - were visited by Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter and queried about the circumstances surrounding the 32-year-old star's death on December 20.

Leaving the building, he told TMZ: "The investigation is continuing. The family is very cooperative and we will continue with our investigation.

"They were able to fill in some questions that we had involving the case. But I really can't comment on it.

"We actually interviewed them together."

Brittany is believed to have died from a suspected cardiac arrest, but her death certificate lists the cause of her death as "deferred" and the manner of death as "pending investigation".

Following her passing, there has been much speculation about Brittany's use of prescription drugs and weight issues.

Ten different types of medication were confiscated from her bedroom after she was found collapsed in the shower.

It is believed the coroner paid the pair a visit to find out more information after being unsatisfied the toxicology report - which has not yet been released - told the full story.

This news comes shortly after it was claimed the coroners had been warned prescription medications used to arrive at the property every week, addressed to someone called 'Lola'.

Simon Monjack Suing Warner Bros

Brittany Murphy's widower is suing Warner Brothers over her tragic death.

Simon Monjack alleges the studio is to blame for Brittany dying last month from a cardiac arrest because just two weeks before her passing they fired her from the sequel to hit animation 'Happy Feet'.

He said: "They killed her. She was devastated... You're disposable as an actress or actor.

"I am tough. I litigate when somebody does something wrong to me. That's one of the reasons I make enemies."

Simon also claims his late wife - who was just 32 when she died on December 20 2009 at her Los Angeles home - lost out on many roles because of rumours she was a drug user, even though she never touched illegal substances.

The screenwriter - who married Brittany in May 2007 - said in an interview with website The Daily Beast: "In all the time I've known her, she has never, and I repeat never, done drugs.

"Not a line of cocaine, not a hit from a joint, nothing. She was anti-drugs. There are no drugs involved. The drug rumours made her lose roles, I'm sure.

"All she wanted to do was to make movies. She was waiting for the role that would revive her career, waiting for the call from Penny Marshall or Guy Fleder, people she had worked with before, that they might remember how talented an actress she was.

"Bridge" A Bold Broadway Bow For Scarlett Johansson

Who would have thought that the plays of Arthur Miller would provide a safe haven for young Hollywood actresses making their first forays onto a Broadway stage?

Last season it was Katie Holmes, receiving generally kind notices for her supporting turn in "All My Sons." The latest example is Scarlett Johansson, as a young niece who inspires the semi-incestuous passions of her longshoreman uncle with tragic results in "A View from the Bridge."

It turns out to have been a smart move: Making her Great White Way debut, Johansson acquits herself admirably in the role (which, by the way, the late Brittany Murphy played during the previous Broadway revival). But she's got a real insurance policy in the form of co-star Liev Schreiber, delivering a volcanic performance as the doomed Eddie Carbone, upon whom the play truly hinges. The play is running through April 4 at the Cort Theater.

Miller's 1955 work, with its overdone Greek-tragedy overtones, never has managed to be fully convincing. But it remains a gripping theatrical experience despite its flaws, and director Gregory Mosher's straightforward, beautifully acted production does it reasonable justice.

The ominous tone is established immediately by the sight of John Lee Beatty's imposing set depicting the looming, rundown buildings of a Brooklyn waterfront neighborhood. The proceedings are narrated in portentous fashion by Alfieri (Michael Cristofer), the lawyer who serves as a sort of de facto Greek chorus who lets us know immediately that things will not turn out well.

The plot centers on Eddie's extreme protectiveness toward 17-year-old Catherine (Johansson), the daughter of his wife Beatrice's (Jessica Hecht) late sister who they have raised since childhood. When the family decides to temporarily shelter Marco (Corey Stoll) and Rodolpho (Morgan Spector) -- Beatrice's relatives from Italy who have arrived as illegal immigrants to seek work -- the burgeoning relationship between Catherine and the rakishly charming Rodolpho sends Eddie over the edge. At first his jealousy manifests itself in small ways: taunting his young rival into a violent boxing lesson and making fun of his propensity for bursting into song. But when the young lovers' relationship turns serious, he resorts to a shocking act of betrayal that has fateful results.

Schreiber, who in recent years has established himself as perhaps the theater's leading dramatic actor, is simply riveting as Eddie. Early on, he invests the role with subtle shades of humor that help leaven the melodramatic proceedings. But as Eddie becomes more consumed by his demons, Schreiber gradually ratchets up the intensity with shattering results.

Hecht, as the sexually neglected wife who can't bear to admit the truth of what's happening, is equally powerful in a role not too far removed, at least in milieu, from her superb recent turn in Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs." Stoll and Spector are moving as the new arrivals who set the tragic events in motion, with the latter charmingly conveying Rodolpho's innocent exuberance.

Johansson, sporting a convincing Brooklyn accent, is touching as the young girl blossoming into womanhood. Although like most stage tyros she needs to do more work in terms of projection and stage presence, she more than holds her own opposite her dynamic co-star, which is saying something indeed.

Brittany Murphy's Husband Refutes Drug Claims

Brittany Murphy's husband claims the prescription drugs found in their home were his.

Simon Monjack insists speculation that the actress's death from a cardiac arrest last month was linked to her use of medications is inaccurate because she was only taking pills for menstrual cramps and laryngitis.

The cancer survivor - who suffers from migraines, seizures and a heart condition - told People magazine that Brittany "was on an antibiotic and was taking cough medicine", for laryngitis and flu-like symptoms when she died.

She also took a medication called Vicoprofen to deal with severe menstrual cramps, but Simon was adamant there were "no medications that could have possibly led to her heart attack."

Ten different types of prescription drugs were found in Brittany's bedroom after she died, including tablets to treat depression and anxiety.

Some of the drugs were in Brittany's name, others were in Simon's and her mother Sharon's, as well as other "unidentified third party names".

Her mother also said she was convinced the star died of natural causes, rather than as the result of drug abuse or an eating disorder, as has been speculated.
