With David O Russell and Vince Vaughn moving from the flirting stage of their relationship on Russell’s new film Old St Louis to the full-on heavy petting rush towards production, it would seem that Scarlett Johansson is looking to get in on the dramedy action.
According to Vulture, Johansson is close to signing up to the film to play a secretary who just happens to also be the lover of Vaughn’s travelling salesman character. The divorced businessman is trying to mix his latest cross-country job trip with an attempt to reconcile with the teenage daughter that he’s rarely seen thanks to his busy schedule.
The movie itself has apparently been lingering around the studios for years, with Sony setting it up a while ago as Toy Men with High Fidelity/Hot Tub Time Machine’s Steve Pink and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ Allen Loeb on script duties. But it never quite worked out and now, with Russell having re-written it almost completely, it’s in the middle of grabbing funding and in serious talks with Universal to get it into cinemas.
Here’s the catch, though – what might this mean for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity? The space-set epic thriller has had Robert Downey Jr in its command module for a while now, but has also encountered real trouble finding a female lead. Johansson had been touted as the latest likely candidate, but if she signs on to Old St Louis, there would almost certainly be a schedule clash (unless she tries to do them both, of course).
There had been whispers, reported on by The Playlist, that Green Lantern’s Blake Lively might be trying to grab the Gravity role, though all that could be just so much snarky chatter. Still, if Johansson did jump ship from Gravity, we’re sure Cuaron wouldn’t mind having a backup.

Green Lantern actor Ryan Reynolds was injured slightly and suffered what set sources dubbed a "minor injury" to his shoulder while filming "The Green Lantern" in New Orleans. Filming continues with no missed production time, according to E! Online.
More notes from the film - The CGI Green lantern costume is revealed. The outfit was revealed today in Entertainment Weekly and the report muses that "director Martin Campell's (Casino Royale) vision features a computer-generated outfit that intends to show off the superhero's pulsing, glowing energy within."
Ace Showbiz reminds that "Green Lantern centers its story on Hal Jordan, the alter ego of Green Lantern, who is also an ordinary man chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to receive a green energy-powered ring used for protecting the planet."
Lots of photos from MTV that are images from scans from the magazine that gives the "first look at actress
Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan's love interest in the film (and future nemesis?), as well as a shot of Peter Sarsgaard as the mutated villain Hector Hammond and Tim Robbins as Hector's father."

Singer Katy "I Kissed a Girl" Perry topped Maxim magazine's Hot 100 list on Monday, toppling "House" star Olivia Wilde on a roster that saw Angelina Jolie fall to No. 38.
Perry, 25, who shot to fame in 2008, was deemed by Joe Levy, editor-in-chief of the men's magazine, to be a "triple -- no quadruple -- kind of hot."
"It's that feeling you get when you suddenly realize that the smartest, funniest, coolest girl you know also happens to the best looking and a pretty good skateboarder, too," Levy said.
The U.S. singer, who had a No.1 hit with "I Kissed a Girl, is engaged to British comedian Russell Brand. She beat swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, "Avatar" actress Zoe Saldana and "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively for the top spot on the mens' magazine's 2010 list.
Wilde, who plays bisexual doctor Thirteen on TV medical drama "House", was bumped from her No.1 spot last year to 20 on the new list.
Perennial favorite Angelina Jolie fell ten places to No. 38 and troubled "Mean Girls" actress Lindsay Lohan did not make the 2010 Top 100 at all this year.

Katy Perry has been named the world's hottest woman.

Explaining her top ranking, the US men's magazine said of Katy: "She's the best friend you suddenly realize you've loved your whole life.
"The rad chick who taught you to skateboard and whistle and also looks unbelievable in a bikini."
Making up the rest of the top five were 'Gossip Girl' star Blake Lively, and 'Transformers' beauty Megan Fox, while 'Russian Roulette' singer Rihanna, George Clooney's girlfriend Elizabetta Canalis, actress Olivia Munn, socialite Kim Kardashian and model Marisa Miller made up the rest of the top 10.

She’s busy being Ryan Reynolds’ love interest on Green Hornet, but once Blake Lively is done with the world of superheroes, she’s joining the cast of Cover Girl, which Donald Petrie has signed on to direct.
According to Production Weekly (via The Playlist), there are no details of the plot yet, but Gren Wells’ script has also scored Hugh Dancy and Jim Sturgess to co-star with Lively.
Anyone want to guess what the plot might be about? We know it's a rom-com, and given Petrie’s involvement, it'll likely be fluffier than Wells' most recent script – weepie Earthbound, which finds Kate Hudson as a terminal cancer sufferer – and could well have something to do with magazines…

Miley Cyrus will dump Hannah Montana. The much maligned teen starlet will bid adieu to her TV character after filming concludes for a fourth season and move forward to more adult-oriented roles. Earlier reports have claimed she has taken a linking to sexy "Gossip Girl" blonde
Blake Lively. Disney Channel boss Adam Bonnett told reporters of the Hannah Montana series: "Right now we're scheduled to wrap after shooting this new batch of episodes... The (new) episodes will continue to roll out at least over a full year."
More Miley...(But Not Hannah) Cyrus, 17, has fallen in love with Phillip Island, off Australia's southern coast. Miley reportedly called her dad Billy Ray Cyrus to tell him she adored her stay on the Victorian island that drew a super-cool rock crowd to Australia over new year.
The teen sensation was at Purple Hen Winery on the island when she was overheard telling her father how much she enjoyed the romantic getaway with Liam Hemsworth, 19.
The pair were reported staying with Hemsworth family members. They frequented the Pyramid Rock Festival, which featured hot local band Empire of the Sun. "She was telling him what a beautiful place Phillip Island was and how much she had fallen in love with it.
And she was very keen to tell him how nice it was to be able to enjoy a holiday without the usual media frenzy that follows her, and was really enjoying the anonymity."
Winery staff said Cyrus made for the "perfect guest" and had just a sip of wine from Hemsworth's glass. The family threw a lunch and a barbecue at their home to welcome Cyrus on New Year's Eve. Hemsworth's mother Leonie, meanwhile, was reported pulling some savvy driving moves on her way to Melbourne Airport with the pair as she dodged trailing photographers.

It's all go for Martin Campbell on the Green Lantern adaptation right now. Thursday saw the film get the official green light from Warners and now the female lead has been cast: Blake Lively will be the Lantern's love interest.
Lively, usually to be found starring in soapy US TV drama Gossip Girl, was one of several candidates that the lads over at Latino Review revealed were under consideration for the part.
Carol Ferris is the woman in charge of her father's aerospace company, and who hires cocky test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), the man fated to become intergalactic law keeper Green Lantern.
According to the Heat Vision Blog, the role was actually aimed at a slightly older actress (since A) Reynolds is in his 30s and B) the role requires you to believe she runs a massive company but Lively nabbed the part thanks to a solid audition and her work in Ben Affleck's latest film, The Town.
Now we just need to know who will be playing the likes of the chief villain, Sinestro. The film itself will arrive in June 2011.

Tiger Woods jokes hit SNL. And just who is Mindy Lawton, the latest to come forward in the scandal that has rocked the golfer. Details below on Mindy's claims, but first Wods got the treatment from Gossip Girl star
Blake Lively as she played Tiger Woods' wife Elin Nordegren in a TV comedy sketch. The Saturday Night Live skit featured guest host Lively as Nordegren alongside a battered and bruised Woods (Kenan Thompson) finally addressing the media.
Woods makes the mistake of apologising for his “multiple transgressions” – with startled Nordegren snapping: “Multiple? So it happened more than once?”
The sketch then cut to a news flash announcing Woods had been back in hospital after falling down some stairs and then “inadvertenty threw himself through a plate glass window”.
Woods then holds up sheets of paper with the hidden messages “Help me”, “I’m scared” and “She’s stronger than she looks” on the back of them. But he was in trouble again as Nordegren noticed them and lunged at him.
More Tiger updates:
Earlier Jennifer Cox and Sophie Eager updated reports that include cell phone texting, and even claims of new racy photos of another alleged mistress.
