The 'Alice in Wonderland' actress - who already has a much-loved chocolate Labrador called Esmeralda - went to Molly's Mutts and Meows volunteer animal rescue centre in West Hollywood on Saturday (13.03.10) with her partner Adam Schulman where they were seen looking at a number of mutts, including a medium-sized terrier mix named Chuck.
A source revealed: "She said she had one dog and was looking to adopt a second one. Most of the conversation was about Chuck, and whether he's good with other dogs, house-trained, mellow, things like that."
The 27-year-old star - who has been dating Adam since November 2008 - took down information regarding the purchase of Chuck before leaving, and seemed keen on giving the pooch a home.

Soccer player Ashley Cole - who allegedly cheated on the Girls Aloud singer with a string of women - has vowed to give her first pick of their shared possessions and wedding presents if she divorces him, because he wants her to know he is "deeply sorry" about his actions.
A source said: "Ashley is going to any lengths to prove to Cheryl that she means more to him than anything. He wants her to know he is deeply sorry for what he has done. He has said she can have whatever she wants or needs - and that includes any sentimental gifts or presents. She's not bothered about the gym equipment and things like his trophies - likewise all of Cheryl's discs will be hers to keep. But some of the joint wedding presents and gifts will be harder to separate."
Cheryl has contacted Prince Charles' former divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton in a bid to legally end her marriage as quickly as possible.

Former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul is in talks to join ABC's "Star Search" revamp, sources said.
Abdul would likely be a judge of some kind on the new edition of the classic TV talent contest. ABC had been hoping to make a deal with Abdul since she left "Idol," with a "Dancing With the Stars" gig having been discussed.
Fox has also been looking at Abdul as a potential judge for Simon Cowell's "X-Factor," which gets underway next year.
One thing's for certain: When it comes to Abdul, one can never be certain what she's going to do.
ABC refused to comment; EW broke the news of ABC's negotiating with Abdul.

Amid the tabloid photos, the Jenny Craig ads and her self-chastising Oprah visits, one thing has been easy to overlook about Kirstie Alley: She's pretty darned funny.
Alley's new A&E reality series, which focuses on her obsession with losing weight, gives her an ideal platform every week to remind us of that fact. For instance, in describing her round-the-home handyman Jim, who is destined to become her "chubby buddy," she says, "I just wanted someone fatter than me around the house -- Jim fit the bill."
"Kirstie Ally: Big Life," premiering on Sunday, isn't your typical reality series. There's no competition or goal (though Alley would like to drop about 90 pounds) and no closed-door confessionals. Alley serves as participant and narrator, guiding viewers through her life (complete with bright, apparently sane grown children) and home (complete with garden and lemur cage). Passing through to help her make it through the day is a small army of hired help including a diligent assistant (whose hair Alley finds appalling), a flaky assistant-in-training who likes to nap, a lemur-fearing stylist and a maid, all of whom serve as a Greek chorus to her daily indignities.
There's a fine line Alley is trying to walk here, and for the most part she does a great job balancing light moments with the thousand tiny tragedies that come from feeling too fat to leave the house. One moment she's insisting that losing 90 pounds, when expressed as 6.4 English "stone," doesn't really seem all that much, and the next she's abandoning New Year's plans because she's too big for the dresses her stylist brought over. Her dinner with Jim that night has them both commiserating over the joyless task ahead: pairing up to lose weight.
So the task, and her show, begins. Sympathetic, profane, brassy and real in an eccentric way, Alley's journey will be a challenge for her, and to watch. But her apparent fearlessness to expose all before the cameras makes this more than a reality show and better than just a "how-to" program. She's inspiring, if for no other reason than that between chuckles you'll want to put down your cake.

Add Channing Tatum to the list of actors being considered for the role of Captain America.
The co-star of the recent weepie "Dear John" now joins soap star Wilson Blethel ("The Young and the Restless") and Mike Vogel ("She's Out of My League"), who have screen-tested, as well as Chris Evans ("Fantastic Four"), who has read for the part. Marvel Studios is also still keen on Garrett Hedlund ("Tron Legacy").
At this stage Tatum, who just wrapped filming on the Steven Soderbergh action flick "Knockout," has only been approached for the role and has not seen a script. The actor played Duke in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," but despite that movie doing modestly at the box office, fanboy reaction was muted and its viability as a franchise is set on neutral.
Tatum certainly has the heft for Captain America, but can he play the 98-pound weakling alter ego Steve Rogers was before taking the super-serum which turns him into a perfect human specimen? This could be Tatum's chance to pull a "Machinist" -- Christian Bale lost 60 pounds for the role in the 2004 drama which, while attracting some heat from health groups, received acclaim for his performance in that movie.
Casting for other roles in the Captain America movie is just as hot.
Hugo Weaving's deal is still being worked on, though not much movement has occurred since last week.
And the search is on for the female lead. Details for the part are being kept secret for now but it is rumored to be his flame Betsy Ross (ironically, named after the woman who is credited with creating the American flag). Keira Knightley was approached last week, but the studio is also looking at other actresses.

He said: "For me, laughter is such a huge part of a relationship. My wife has a great sense of humor. What I like is to try to make her laugh.
"Sometimes she laughs at things that I take too seriously, which I find helpful in keeping me grounded. I used to be a workaholic, but now I'm happy at home. For the first time I'm beginning to feel grown up."

"I'd been in my house, in a cocoon with my kids, my husband, my dogs. Usually, as I walk through the door into that atmosphere, I already feel different. There's a button that goes On and I'm On.

Friends of the actress say she has become close to student Rafael Cebrian since they split.
A friend said to UK newspaper Daily Mail: "Emma and Jay were in trouble for months, and with Emma at Brown University in America, the transatlantic gap proved too much for their relationship to survive.
"Emma has been spending a lot of time with Rafael and they are virtually inseparable."

Oscar winner Marion Cotillard gasped in pain after France's culture minister accidentally stuck a pin into her chest as he decorated her with the Order of Arts and Letters on Monday.
Cotillard has spent much of her time in Hollywood since winning the Oscar for her performance as singer Edith Piaf in "La vie en rose" in 2008, but she was back in Paris to receive the decoration from Culture Minister Francois Mitterrand.
Mitterrand, who praised Cotillard's "charm, natural grace and beauty," inadvertently skewered the actress as he pinned the medallion naming her as "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" on to her blouse.
She appeared to suffer no damage however and burst out laughing as Mitterrand hastily apologized.
In the same ceremony, he also decorated U.S. director Tim Burton, whose latest film "Alice in Wonderland" opened in the United States earlier this month and who will head the jury at this year's Cannes film festival.

She told America's Esquire magazine: "I sacrificed six years in Los Angeles. I did my job out there. I made the contacts and did the work I had to do.
"But I came here at 18. I'm out of here at 24, and I feel lucky it wasn't longer."

Curvy singing star
Jessica Simpson (pictured) is just waiting for the 'right man' after her last split with John Mayer. Jessica's dating life since her divorce with one-time husband Nick Lachey only a few years ago has been very public and the buxom blonde singer has had her sex life spilled by ex-lovers in the press.
The latest was her last serious boyfriend, musician and rock guitarist John Mayer, who declared Simpson as 'sexual napalm' in a Playboy Magazine interview. She says now she needs some understanding.
She said: "Hopefully, I can find a man that understands my life and understands my purpose. I just need to find the right man". According to E Canada Now, Simpson also joked, "I hope I don’t die alone, that’s for damn sure."
More Jess news...Simpson has said she just cannot get rid of her curves. The 29-year-old admitted that she's a curvaceous woman after recently stepping out in a cerise pink dress, which led people to compare her with voluptuous Mad Men star
Christina Hendricks.
She said to E! News: "I got curves! I can't get rid of them. There ain't no getting rid of them. At this point, I just celebrate them. I'm a healthy girl. I work out. I box. "I try to eat right. I still like my corn dogs, my burgers and my onion rings. I can't help it. Just as long as I feel good about myself and if I feel healthy, I feel beautiful."

She said: "I don't know who had a bigger crush on him at the beginning, my mom or me. I was like, 'No, maybe he's just too pretty. I don't want to be with someone who's better looking than me. That's like awkward.' "
Liam has also spoken about how the pair gradually became closer during shooting - on which Miley's mother Tish was the executive producer - because they were "each other's only friend".

The 'Wow' singer can't wait to welcome Dannii Minogue and Kris Smith's first child into the world this summer and is already planning a spending spree for gifts for the new arrival - but admits she is concerned about the cost.
She is quoted by website Absolute Now as saying: "I haven't bought anything yet but trust me, I will be. My album better sell because I will be getting so much stuff. I am so excited."
Kylie, 41, must be planning a particularly huge spending spree if she needs to save up for it, as her accounts reveal she earned an average of over £11,000 a day - around £4.1 million over the year - in the UK tax year 2008 to 2009.
