Ballet is clearly the next big Hollywood trend. Okay, so two films about it don’t really count as a trend, but with Black Swan getting ready to take first position in cinemas, a very different sort of hoofing pic is hoping for a second chance, with Kristen Bell signing on to indie comedy Dance of the Mirlitons.

Dance focuses on a slightly overweight but ambitious and plucky young ballerina who must find her way through a highly competitive school for dancers where bitchiness is at a premium and looks are everything. She’s not helped by her obsessive and overly driven mother (Bell).

The script has had an rollercoaster of a journey so far: birthed from writer (and now director) Evan Greenberg’s NYU short film script, it became a hot property when it landed on the 2005 “Blacklist” of the best unproduced scripts, alongside such famous titles as Juno and Lars and the Real Girl. But while Warner Independent snapped it up, it sank into the mire once that company fell apart.

Now Greenberg has struggled for years to grab the rights back, hooked up with a couple of producers and is kicking off a search for an unknown actress to play the central girl. "I hope that one day people will talk about how it was one of those movie that came together, fell apart, came together again,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The best projects are the ones that take the most elbow grease to get made." Hope he has his fingers crossed…

Mere hours ago, we told you about an exclusive nugget of X-Men: First Class casting, with Jason Flemyng revealing his role in the film during Movie-Con, and now there’s word on yet another person joining the already full-to-bursting ensemble: Rose Byrne.

At least, she’s in negotiations, which is usually Holly-speak for “she’s got the part and is just working out her deal.” Provided everything is locked in, she’ll play Moira McTaggert, a Scots scientist and genetic expert who becomes involved with Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) in more ways than one during the founding years of his academy and helps with some of the young mutants.

Already aboard for director Matthew Vaughn are McAvoy, Flemyng, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Alice Eve.

While she’s been earning plenty of kudos for her role on the TV show Damages, Byrne also managed to bring the funny for Get Him To The Greek and is also busy on Kristin Wiig’s comedy Bridesmaids.

First Class should be shooting by the end of the month.

Ryan Seacrest has asked Julianne Hough to move in with him. The 'American Idol' host recently met his 22-year-old girlfriend's family at a birthday party for her sister Katherine and is now eager to make a commitment in their relationship.

A source said: "He's not afraid to take things to the next level. Everyone is shocked by how fast things are moving."
Julianne is smitten with Ryan and loves his romantic ways, which included him recently paying for her entire hotel suite to be covered in orchids, pansies and roses.
The source told InTouch Weekly magazine: "There were rose petals in the Jacuzzi, bouquets all over the floor, flowers on the coffee table, and petals all over her bed.
"The gesture was beautiful and made Julianne's heart melt."
Last weekend, the couple made a rare public appearance, driving round Los Angeles in Ryan's Aston Martin convertible, before stopping for lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel's poolside Cabana restaurant.
One onlooker said: "It was warm and beautiful outside and the couple cruised with the top down on the car.
"Ryan and Julianne looked very happy together and even held hands in the car. Ryan was laughing and seemed very smitten with Julianne.
"Julianne didn't seem to mind that Ryan got attention in the restaurant, and instead acted supportive and waited by his side until he finished greeting his fans."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie enjoy romantic dates in a hotel Jacuzzi. The couple and their six children are currently staying at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, California, while the actor works on his next movie 'Moneyball' and staff have treated their stay like a "military operation".

A source said: "We approached the arrival of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt -- plus their kids and entourage -- as if it was a military operation."
According to the insider, the couple regularly book the hotel's spa facilities for personal use in order to have "romantic date nights", while they are also happy to pay to have "Under repair" signs posted on the swimming pool so it can be closed for their kids to splash around in peace.
In addition, despite the couple rarely seen in the public areas of the hotel, staff were reportedly ordered to remove any magazines with them on the cover from the lobby newsstand.
The source told the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper: ''That pretty much cleaned out our celebrity magazines since Brad and Angie are on the cover of those magazines almost every week!''
Brad, Angelina, their family and entourage occupy a whole floor of the building, and have had "anti-paparazzi" reflective material placed on all of the windows to maintain their privacy.
In addition, the source reports that the 'Changeling' actress - who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador - has been spending a large amount of her free time in the library at the University of California' Berkeley campus doing research for a book about the international refugee crisis.

U.S. actress Jennifer Aniston gently poked back at right-wing Fox commentator Bill O'Reilly, who raked her for remarks about single mothers, Parade reported.

In "The Switch," Aniston plays a woman who uses a sperm donor to conceive. While promoting the movie, Aniston said a woman's ability to have a child didn't necessarily include a man in her life. "Women are realizing it more and more, knowing that they don't have to settle with a man just to have that child," she told reporters this week. "Love is love and family is what is around you and who is in your immediate sphere."

On his Fox show, "The O'Reilly Factor," O'Reilly ripped the actress, saying Aniston was sending the wrong signal to children: "She's throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, 'Hey you don't need a guy. You don't need a dad. That is destructive to our society."

Aniston responded with humor, telling People magazine, "Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who've not yet found their Bill O'Reilly, I'm just glad science has provided a few other options."

Sheryl Crow has released an album of soul songs and the American singer will soon tour the UK to promote "100 Miles From Memphis" the new album that is out now.

The singer spoke with the UK Daily Mail and revealed her thoughts on motherhood and life after breaking up with US cyclist Lance Armstrong and battling breast cancer. Read the interview.

Earlier some actually suggested that she adopted to advance her career.
The All I Wanna Do singer adopted son Wyatt in 2007 and brother Levi last month. She said the adoption process is long and emotional - not a quick career fix.

Speaking in an interview to You magazine, she explained: "I don't usually read what people blog about me but I've read some beautiful things about me and adoption and some hateful things. I think people don't understand - it's not like you can go to some outlet and pick up a baby because you've got a record to promote.
"An adoptive mother goes through more hoops than those people who thoughtlessly become pregnant.
"I had about 10 adoptions fall through last year, so there was a real sense of relief when he (Levi) was mine. It's a long process and it's fraught with uncertainty. Another person is carrying a baby and when that baby finally arrives their feelings may have changed."

Kim Kardashian had to be separated from ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush when they got into a drunken argument at a wedding. The incident occurred when the NFL player started flirting with the beautiful socialite at the Los Angeles nuptials of his New Orleans Saints teammate Bobby McCray.

The sports star is said to have approached Kim and asked her about work before admitting he wanted to date her again.
Kim - who is currently single - and Reggie then got into a heated discussion which turned "aggressive" but not physical as they knocked back more drinks. According to gossip website TMZ, bodyguards then had to step in to "pull Reggie away from Kim".
Security then called separate cabs for the pair at 1am and sent them home.
Reality TV star Kim and Reggie split after three years together in March after she put pressure on him to get married. She has wanted to tie the knot and start a family ever since her younger sister Khloe Kardashian wed basketball star Lamar Odom last September.

Lady Gaga has superstitions about sex. The 24-year-old singer - who has previously raised concerns about casual sex hurting her ability to be creative - admits she likes to keep physical acts of love to those close to her.

She told AMP Radio: "I have weird superstitions about sex. If you're not having sex with someone who really cares about you or who really loves you they can screw up your energy.
"I think sometimes, I don't know, if you are promiscuous and are just sleeping around that people can take things from you. I think it's always important to be making love."
The 'Alejandro' singer is believed to have got back into a relationship with ex-boyfriend Luc Carl recently, despite him having a girlfriend when she went back to the New York bar she used to work at to meet him
A source said: "Luc was like the cat that got the cream. He had the most famous woman in the world vying for his attention and a hot young blonde waiting in the wings.

Hilary Duff is reportedly set to marry her hockey star fiance Mike Comrie this weekend. The 22-year-old singer and actress will marry Comrie, 29, at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.

The leaked information about the possible weekend wedding plans is  according to US entertainment and celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly.
The pair got engaged in February while on holiday in Hawaii and they are set to marry in the ranch where John F. Kennedy and wife Jacqueline spent their honeymoon.

An insider said to the magazine that they chose the location because of 'its sense of Old Hollywood glamor and romantic style'.
Duff has reportedly been working out six days a week for the wedding.

Lindsay Lohan will leave a rehab at UCLA in California and mom Dina Lohan claims her troubled daughter will mover her act from Hollywood east to New York.  Dina spoke to NBC's Today Show and said one judge was very hard on Lindsay, but noted she was now off the case.

Dina told the TV show her daughter is doing 'wonderfully' in the rehab center where she moved to after serving just 13 days of her 90-day prison sentence.

Dina said: "She's great. She's been through a lot. The judge played hardball. Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she's become friends with a lot of them. "Lindsay rolled with the punches and she's doing wonderfully."
The actress, 24, is being treated at the UCLA drug rehab center where she was moved to for three months of treatment after finishing her prison sentence.
Dina added that Lindsay will be moving to New York once she comes out of rehab as California is 'a wonderful state' but 'it's a different game you play there, the court system is a little different'.

Charisma Carpenter is still a sexy mom and displays her bikini body for celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly. "I ate lobster with butter and three slices of cake — I was really indulgent!" Charisma Carpenter told the weekly entertainment publication while celebrating her recent 40th birthday while promoting The Expendables at Comic-Con.
 
"I love food too much to not eat and I don't want to be the angry, hungry girl." Whether it's eating or working out in preparation for her In Touch bikini shoot, the actress, best known for playing Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel says she "doesn't do anything half-ass."  

The report adds her attitude is why she's turning 40 with a smile — and snagging a plum role in the summer's most eagerly awaited action movie, with an all-star dream team cast led by director/star Sylvester Stallone, helps.  
"I want Hollywood and America to know 40 is not old," she says. "As my mom told me, 'Charisma, welcome to the best decade of your life, because not only do you look as good as you did when you were 23, but you're so much smarter.' I'm now better in every way: I've had years to hone my craft. I'm better at acting, I'm a better mom, I'm a better friend. I'm just a more confident woman. It's awesome!"

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon says its time to add the diva’s name to the list of potential candidates to take Simon Cowell’s seat at the American Idol judging table.

Cannon revealed his wife’s small-screen ambition, saying of the coveted job: “She talks about it.

She says, 'I would love to do that'." In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 29-year-old TV executive, comedian and radio show host enthused about his beloved's talents.
“She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let's start the campaign! She's been the hardest-working woman in the industry for 20 years.”

Justin Bieber thinks Cheryl Cole is one of the "hottest girls" in the world. The 16-year-old pop star has a crush on the 'Fight for This Love' singer and also has a soft spot for Katy Perry - who is engaged to Russell Brand.

He said: "Cheryl and Katy are two of the hottest girls in the world - and so normal and funny with it. If I was a few years older they are the kind of girls I'd like to date. I want a younger version of Cheryl and Katy - a mixture of the two would be hot."
Although Justin accepts he has little chance of romancing either Cheryl, 27, or Katy, 25, he is keen to invite them both out so they can give him some tips on how to bag a girlfriend as beautiful as both of them.
He added to The Sun newspaper: "Maybe they could coach me and tell me how to work out which ones are the good ones. That would be pretty awesome. I would like to invite the two of them out for dinner so they can tell me the best way to win a woman like them."

Julia Roberts doesn't have a prayer against Sylvester Stallone at the weekend box office in North America.

Sylvester's all-star mercenary thriller "The Expendables" will outmuscle Roberts' "Eat Pray Love" as well as fellow newcomer "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," giving the venerable action hero one of the biggest openings of his career.

The ensemble actioner -- also featuring Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren -- is expected to fetch upward of $30 million through Sunday.

"The interest level with our core audience of male moviegoers is extremely high," said David Spitz, president of distribution at Lionsgate, which is handling the U.S. release. "So we have a real shot at having a very solid weekend."

The film, which Stallone also directed and co-wrote, was produced by Avi Lerner's Nu Image/Millennium for more than $85 million. Lionsgate paid almost $20 million for distribution rights in the U.S. and the U.K., where it opens next Thursday. Maple Releasing will handle the picture in Canada this weekend.

"The Expendables" revolves around a group of mercenaries hired to overthrow a South American dictator. Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger make cameos, while Mexican actress Giselle Itie is the lone female co-star.

Stallone was last in theaters in January 2008 with "Rambo," which opened to $18.2 million. His best opening, unadjusted for inflation, was the $33.4 million start for "Spy Kids 3D: Game Over" in 2003.

"Eat Pray Love," Columbia's adaptation of writer Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir about a woman's post-divorce global journey toward self-discovery, is "definitely going to enthrall the ladies," said Rory Bruer, the studio's president of worldwide distribution.

Prerelease tracking suggests a bow between such previous female-targeted films as "Julie & Julia" ($20 million last August) and "Mamma Mia!" ($27.8 million in July 2008).

Production costs on "Love" are estimated at about $60 million. Co-starring Billy Crudup, Viola Davis and James Franco, the film was directed by "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy.

The comic-book adaptation "Scott Pilgrim," which also cost about $60 million, should travel well into the teen millions through Sunday.

Michael Cera stars as the title character, who must defeat his new girlfriend's seven former lovers in a battle for her affections. Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Make It Happen") plays the girlfriend. Edgar Wright ("Hot Fuzz") directed the Universal release.

"It's genre-bending and just so unique that it really plays to that Comic-Con crowd," Universal distribution president Nikki Rocco said. "But because it's so unique, it is really hard to get a handle on exactly what it's going to do."

Limited openers set for Friday include Sony Pictures Classics' Australian crime drama "Animal Kingdom," which comes out in two theaters in New York and two in L.A.

Many people have bad hair days, but one that cost $35 million? Not even Paris Hilton could do that -- at least, that's what she says.

Lawyers for the hotel heiress and socialite on Thursday said they "will pursue all of our defenses vigorously and any potential counter claims" against a company that sued Hilton for $35 million claiming she broke a contract to wear its hair extensions.

One day earlier, Beverly Hills-based Hairtech International Inc filed its suit alleging Hilton, a member of the family that founded the hotel chain bearing her name, broke a contract in 2008 when she wore a rival company's extensions.

Hairtech also blamed Hilton for missing a product launch party in 2007 because she was in jail, and said her failure to appear cost the company $6.6 million, according to reports.

Hairtech declined to comment on the lawsuit.

The suit caused headlines around the world as the media seized upon it as a way to tease the wealthy heiress who has acted on TV and in movies, and endorsed products ranging from jewelry to apparel, cosmetics, perfume and hair products.

Hilton's personal life has long been fodder for the tabloid press, and she has had her share of troubles with the law, including a reckless driving arrest and probation violation.

More recently, she has adopted a lower public profile, although she remains a staple on red carpets around the world and is active as a celebrity endorser. Just this week, she was out in Hollywood promoting her new perfume, Tease.
